Area where I live has only 1 other option in Charter. That's who I had and because of poor customer service I cancelled. However, no AT&T, Verizon, or Centurylink in the area.

You better go crawling back to Charter now.

Nah I called them again and they wanted to charge me for another modem, activation fee, and something else.
I cancelled after my tech failed to show up for a scheduled appointment on a modem for a second time and when I called to find out whoever I spoke with was very unprofessional. They have a monopoly in the area and they know it.

Well, the cable companies suck because they don't have to not suck. But if your only other option is Hughesnet, I hope you don't care that much about internet.

(Hint: hughesnet makes charter look like Google fiber)

I live in an area with only satellite. If you can get exede, do it. If you can go back to charter, do it.

Satellite is MUCH faster than I expected and way more reliable than I thought but it still sucks.

Ping and upload suck and the datacap is a BITCH. I do have unlimited from 12-6am but it still sucks.

If I had an option for even DSL I would take it.

Looks like I am stuck until sometime in 2015 when AT&T said they would expand to the area

You have a third option. You could get Amazon Prime and send ink cartridges to a friend regularly, and you can text him website addresses, and he can print the websites out and put them in an envelope and send them to you via USPS.

That would be better than HughesNet. Yeah, it's that bad.

What about a 4g hub? We borrowed one for a week while we were waiting on setuo of cable, and I was super surprised with the service. I was getting 20/5 speeds

For what I do, it could be worse. I can't do netflix or DL whatever whenever I want but there are workarounds.

Anything I wanna watch I just torrent. My client lets me only DL during my "free zones". If I gamed online it would suck.

Exede is in my area, only now after reading about satellite internet it seems a pain. We watch a good bit of Netflix (actually only TV we have) so we may burn through those plans quick.
I use Internet for work and school and SO for Pinterest and social networking.

Charter. My dad has satellite internet. It sucks and has a very low cap.
