It's probably a bad term (which I'm guilty of using), because there are some "non-Nashville" artists who actually do live in Nashville.

Basically, country that isn't the pop pablum that dominates the "country" radio stations currently.

You got any artist you can list? I need some new stations on my Pandora.

I've been into these recently:

Whiskey Myers
Blackberry Smoke
Chris Knight
Dirty River Boys
JB and the Moonshine
Sturgill Simpson (old sound country)

I'll be at their Moody show tomorrow night. I've got Hayes Carll acoustic tonight, DRB tomorrow night and John Fullbright/Patty Griffin on Friday night. Not mad at my week.

Neko Case's first two albums are some of the best alt-country I've ever heard. "The Virginian" and "Furnace Room Lullabye."

I'll be checking them out. Thanks!!!

Robert Earl keen early stuff was the tits, I'm not into his newer material.

Same goes for Corey Smith. I loved him before his new "mainstream"album came out

Check out Stoney LaRue also. One of my favorites even though he doesn't have that much stuff

Trust me, if I had to pay for most of them I would hardly go to any . I've saved a small fortune just having friends in high places.

I actually have a DRB laminate because apparently I'm the 5th Dirty River Boy (Girl). The TX/OK music scene is a small, tight-knit world and I'm lucky enough to be loved by a couple of people in it. I also have very flexible hours so I'm able to work around shows. I'm a lucky gal

Ha, they actually are just my friends which is the reason I get invited back. Sorry to disappoint, nerds.

Man, when Robert Earl Keen put out "Gringo Honeymoon," I wore that CD out for about five years. It's stellar front to back (with the exception of that dumb "Barbeque" song).

That album is the reason I picked up a guitar.
