Was just thinking back to my college days and remember having some good times out listening to Lazy K.
anyone know what these guys are up to these days?
Also, what about some of the other bands from those years? Meriwether, Addavoy/Another Big Machine, One Wants, etc.

I went to HS with most of them. I know at least two of them are still here in Zachary and I see them probably 10 times a year. The two out here are married with kids.

I think maybe one or two didn't, but the rest did.

I'm more interested in the cover bands that are still going 10+ years later. Like the Molly Ringwalds, Bag of Donuts, Chee Weez. WTF kind of lives are these 40 year old guys living driving around in campers playing at Fred's tent parties and frat parties. It was a little sad 10 years ago, and I know they're still around.

Don't know about those bands specifically, but most of the ones I know that are still playing bars and parties at this age do it simply because they enjoy it. And if they make a little extra cash, that's even better. But you don't stop liking music when you turn 30 or 40.

Chee Weez get minimum $6,000 a show for the band. Thats about $5-750 a show per member depending on the split minimum not bad for 4 hours of work.
I have a cousin in a pretty poplular band in his 40s whose been playing in bands since hes 16, he still enjoys it and they turn down a lot of gigs.

I full understand booking weddings and playing in front of the PMAC before a game or something along those lines.
I remember the guys from one of those bands hanging out in the frat house hours before a party started, coked out of his mind, doing crazy shite. Its like he never grew up. He was hilarious, but as I get older I could never see myself doing that shite every Friday night.
I remember others being the biggest assholes ever, like they were some sort of celebrities (which I could see being annoyed playing for college kids), but then they would take their break and come creepily hit on the girls. I don't know, maybe it's just me, but some (definitely not all) just seemed a little sad at that age.

The molly ringwalds are expensive as shite. Their concerts are a lot of fun. Watched them at the house of blues in dallas recently. I'd hardly call it sad.

They play for fun now under the name honky kats. They are all married with kids and gainfully employed. The original guys were all from zachary but then a few dropped out and the replaced them with some other members.
I see most of them often.

Lazy K storytime:
When Buffalo Wild Wings was opening in Baton Rouge (Aug 2006?), they were giving away "free wings for the year" to the first fifty people that showed up. My boys and I thought this would be a great excuse to get wasted and tailgate, so off we went to the parking lot at 7am. Low and behold, there were like 6 other people there.
One guy was in a penguin suit, and we sat there with them. Drank and smoked and what not until actual families started showing up. At this point, homeboy in penguin suit is passed out and freaking out the little kids.
At ten, we go get in line with our chairs and ice chests. We are all smashed and making a fool of ourselves. We get into the restaurant and are given cards for 6 wings per week for a year. It was a travesty. (Later, I gave those coupons to some dude waiting on the bus at that stop and Bluebonnet and Perkins). We are immediately cut off from the bar even though we never consumed any of their alcohol.
98.1 comes in there, we tell them we hate their music, one guy goes out to his car and brings in the boombox. Penguin guy is passed out at our long table. We cause a scene and are the first people ever escorted out of that location.
Turns out those guys were Lazy K.
