Taken from ESPN's new power rankings, where the Pels moved up to 15
quote:

During the course of last season and this season, Anthony Davis has five games with at least 25 points, 10 rebounds and 5 blocks. The rest of the league, in that span, has combined for six such games. Now let's see if a one-point win in San Antonio is really the breakthrough this young team seems to have needed.

Blocks are overrated there's no doubt about it. Last I looked Davis's FG % defense at the rim wasn't even CLOSE to elite. When he gets that number down about 10% points come find me.

The only thing overrated is Dwight Howard. Dude has become a mediocre defensive player to go with a sub-par offensive skillset. Like usual, the Rockettes are surviving on poor officiating that will dry up as the season progresses. Their first round exit will only take 5 games this year.

Compare the opponents fg % at the rim when D12 is defending and compare that to when Davis is defending. Also tell me who is #1 in Net rating after the first few weeks of the season. If you don't wanna look it up the answer is Dwight with a 27.3 rating, Davis is at 7.4 down near the like of Sefalosha, Steisma, etc.

Not to mention Davis plays more away from the basket than most of his counterparts. There are 25 NBA big men with more attempts on them per game at the rim than Davis. Skewed stats. He's playing solid D all over the floor.

He's getting 2 steals per and 4 blocks. That's a lot of extra possessions for the Pels

Haven't see those but you Must take into account that Davis replacement player will be much worse than say a Howard's bc your bench is weak. So his value over the replacement would be higher than it would be if he played for a Houston or a Spurs.

Cool. so his FG% allowed is high, his defense is average, and he isn't the most imposing defensive PF in the league.

Well at least his PPG and RPG is up there, along with his FG% and FT%.

Better stat would be, his FT% improves yearly.

75.1% -> 79.1% -> 82.1%

Huy he's a great player but OPs post has potential to mislead some it's important that people don't assume blocks = elite defender.

My name is not Huy, btw.

And also, OP never once said in his post he was an elite defender. He just said

Please show me where OP implies this. I'll wait.

OP didn't but I will. AD is elite on both ends of the floor and anyone who can not admit is an idiot or extreme homer for their team.
