While going down I-10 the other day I saw a small bay boat that I really liked. It couldn't have been any bigger then 15' had plenty of deck space. Center console with a smaller Honda engine maybe a 50? Also, had a push pole deck mounted above motor. I really liked and wanted to get a price on one but have no clue who makes them and where to fine a price on one like the one I saw.

Hells Bay or Skull Island is what you seem to be describing

They are micro skiffs that are really at home on the flats in Florida. It's highly debatable that they are worth the money in Louisiana. I've looked at them because I like to fly fish and like the open decks, but they just don't handle any sort of chop at all. They are similarly priced to larger, more V shaped bay boats that draft similar yet can handle chop much, much better. The micro's really are a one use only boat and most are $20k-$35k

Ankona is probably the lowest priced, yet still quality manufacturer.

Probably Around 40k new, they're completely customizable.

Damn, glad y'all gave some good feed back. Figured they would be a little cheaper and would handle the chop decently.

The problem with the micro's are that they are not popular here so there is no used market. You either have to buy new or bring one from Florida. Ankona's are sub $20k new but you can customize as much as you want.

There's a decent priced local Ankona on CL: LINK

True. IMO, they're the perfect boat for La matsh fishing.

I've been looking at those lately as well, pretty sweet little rig.

needle in a haystack. good luck w/ dat. shopped around forever, like 2 years. all i found were a couple busted up hewes' that some shrimpers were using to store tools and scrap aluminum.

edit::: you also might want to take a charter or hitch a ride w/ a guy who has one. they are balls small and buizness only. Some are wet as hell too; I fish a mako flats regularly and we can't even cross minimal sloppy chop in open water. weight your priorities/options. I'd say a 17 foot carolina skiff if fishing south la marshes. Plenty of customizable options.
