I thought it usually started in late October, but I've spot checked a few trees I pick up from and there is very little.

Are we waiting on an official "frost"? Or is someone else pinching my honey hole?

Saw some young ladies picking some up in St. Charles Parish from the levee on Wednesday. Come to think of it, why weren't they in school?

My GF has a couple dozen trees on her property, and they are pretty full.

We haven't had enough wind and rain this fall to knock them out the trees. Hell, on some of her trees the leaves haven't fallen off yet.

I have six mature big trees. Last year my kids picked 250lbs +/-. This year only about 100lbs so far.

This is a banner year for pecans. Really no money. Been having them picked from mid September. Native tree price is going around .50 a lb. Elliot's are going $1 a lb. They pick anywhere from 10k lbs to 15k lbs off my place each year.

Problem is that there is a shite load of pecans left over from last year.

Damn that sucks. Is 50cents a pound worth the effort?

We have a couple hundred trees and they're dropping a good bit but all the ones I have picked up this year are bad. I don't know what the deal is. I'm just trying to pick some to put out around my stand but can't find a tree that's dropping good pecans.
