I know it is way early, but it seems that Irving and Lebron have had words. I doubt they would make him available, but if Irving came available should the Pelicans come after him? He is an all star and would fit great next to Davis. But I imagine the costs would be substantial..

The money doesn't work out straight up, so we would have to involve a 3rd team (Philly). I played around and came up with this deal (totally off the wall and crazy)..LINK

So the Pelicans get Irving and J. Harris..
The Cavs gets Holiday and Embiid..
The Sixers get Waiters, Rivers and Memphis's 2015 1st round pick..

Kind of crazy, but seems to work out for all the teams. The Pelicans get a 2nd star to put next to Davis (plus I really like J. Harris). The Cavs get a solid PG (Holiday is really good friends with Love), plus a Center with a ton of potential. The Sixers get a solid scorer to put next to MCW, a project combo guard and another 1st. It looks like the 2015 draft is loaded in front court players, so they might look to dump Embiid..

edit-- should be Waiters not Thompson..

That's a pretty good trade, no lie. We need to somehow get this over to Dell's email.

Not enough.

There would be better offers, IMO.

You know the cavs FO has told kyrie something along the lines of "this is your team, we want to build around you" in the past. This is so far from his team now.

Yeah if they are giving up Kyrie and Tristan Thompson (who Lebron supposedly really likes), they are going to be getting a truckload.

I could see them wanting a more stable, defensive PG like Jrue, but I just don't see how we could pull it off.

No way Philly gives up Embiid for Thompson, Rivers, and a late 1st. They aren't bottoming out to send away a prize asset for expiring, RFA backups and a late first.

Plus like others said, LeBron is tight with Thompson and Irving. He chose to play with them. It's been 2 weeks, they'll figure it out and win 50+

Do not want. If you can't make it work out with lebron fricking James, stay away. The prospects of Evans Irving and Gordon getting Davis the basketball are cringe-worthy.

I know, I was just trying to figure out a package that might work. I did Waiters though, not Thompson, not that it makes much of a difference. On the flip side, the draft is shaking out to be mainly PF/C prospects at the top. If they are shooting for the spot (Okafor or Towns) and they want to keep Noel, Embiid will not fit anymore. Getting a solid, somewhat cheap SG, Waiters, a decent combo guard, Rivers and a late 1st, is some value for a project with injury concerns.

The more I think, the less I like my trade idea though. We aren't giving up enough..

I don't see the point in going from Holiday to Irving.

Irving is a star level player. A guy that can be a top 5-10 level player (like a Rose or Westbrook). He is also closer to age with Davis and they played together a lot this summer. Davis is not a publicity seeker or vocal guy, so he wouldn't make Irving a 2nd banana or after thought. They could be co-stars here. Irving is not going to get that in Cleveland and I can't blame him for not wanting to be Lebron's sidekick or scapegoat if everything doesn't work out perfectly (even Wade and Bosh got tired of that).

I think you're pushing it.

He's barely two years younger than holiday. I really don't see how it matters.

I don't disagree but I don't see him leaving cleveland after being one of the reasons LBJ went home.

Irving wouldn't fit here either.

Monty Williams would kill Kyrie after his 3rd game. If you thought Brian Roberts was bad on defense...

He also has had 5 assists in his last 2 games. He had no assists in 45 minutes.

Yeah no.

The talent and speed are obvious. He is not a conventional type of PG, but all I care about is how he fits next to Davis. He is already an elite scorer and they have some chemistry.

I really like Holiday. He is a mid level starter and solid. Irving is already much better and ascending. The major difference is role an expectation. Holiday would just be expected to be a D and 3 type of player (a much better version of M. Chalmbers). While Irving would be expected to be a major scorer and closer here.

First thing you do is make him fit. You rebuild the backcourt around Irving. Dump Gordon and Evans, if you have to, and get guys that go best around Irving. Same thing we are trying to do in the frontcourt around Davis.

I don't know if Irving and James get along or not. I know he wasn't the reason James went there. James got tired of Miami and wanted to be loved and a hero again. He wants the best team around him and Irving is a good player. But all James wants to do is make money and win championships. Irving has to go along or get out of the way. Maybe Irving would just rather another situation. I can't blame him if he did.

James is the best player in the world. But the whole thing about him making guys better is total crap. He has ruined way more careers than he has helped. Guys like Larry Hughes, Wally Szczerbiak, Donyell Marsall, Shaq, David Wesley, Mo Williams, Eric Snow, Antwan Jamison, and a few more I can't remember all went into tail spins after joining up with him. He has even turned solid starters into nothing more than role players (Bosh, Miller, Allen..). All I'm saying is riding James's coat tails isn't going to guarantee him any personal success..

Monty Williams would kill himself trying to coach Kyrie.

And there's no way Cleveland throws the towel in on him this year. It would have to still be a mess next year for this to happen.
