I am leaving Houston tomorrow morning around 6 am. I plan to be in BR around 10-11. What kind of traffic should I expect as I get closer to BR.

my hotel is in downtown and I plan to go there first to meet up with people. Want to make sure this plan works.

Any alternatives if you anticipate it being bad?

Not bad at all. You should enjoy yourself and take your time, try to arrive about 10 minutes before game time. Should find a parking spot pretty close.

When you cross the bridge, go left and get off at harding. That will take you to plank road. Turn right and go about a mile or two. Traffic should be good.

Don't even try I-10 past Laffayette. Get on I-49 to Opelouses and come in on U.S. 190 I took the old bridge from Port Allen for the Ole Miss game only an hour before kickoff and faced zero traffic.

It all depends on how much traffic and how the basin bridge is. We've left Lafayette at 9 before and got to BR in about an hour. That was 2010 for the Bama game and I was floored that there was no traffic.

If by chance there is an accident that you know about before hand and everything STOPS you could go I-10 to I-49 to 190 to 415. But I doubt that you'll need to (that would be a pretty major accident).

Traffic on game day normal flows pretty good but heavy ...

cjared not much at all really ... 20/30 minutes tops the time we had to do it (earlier this year maybe??). It was NOT bad at all and is the alternative to a closed I-10.

I wouldn't worry about leaving that early...we don't expect any traffic.

It only adds around 30-40 minutes even if I-10 has zero traffic (which will absolutely not be the case). Plus, you get to stop at Billy's in Krotz Springs for boudin. I often take it from Lafayette just to avoid the shitshow that is the Horace Wilkinson Bridge.

With the game being at 7 traffic should be ok since the arrival time of fan base will be all throughout the day.

The major problem with 2:30 games is that a lot of traffic converges all at once and its stop and go on the bridge probably from 11 till game time. There is always the old bridge but you should be ok to make it to downtown hotel and there may be some drop-offs from some downtown locations

I had to learn about the 7 wonders of the US (a list made by ASCE in 1994) and the interstate highway system was one of them. I thought to myself "how could this possibly be? The I-10 bridge is a part of this system and that is the greatest transportation abomination I have ever seen." I guess that adds to the wonder on the other end though.

Louisiana's I-10 is schizo.

can go from 0 to 100 to 0 within minutes. hopefully its easy all the way to lafayette.

If I'm trying to get west of the river after the game, where is the best place to park and should I take 190 out?

If you leave at 6 am you'll be fine

After the game on the other hand, I'd leave at halftime to beat the traffic

in 2010 I cam into BR on Friday because it was a 230 game.

in other words I live close enough to do just need to stay one night.

According to the Advocate this morning, LSU officials are expecting in excess of 160K on campus tomorrow. Getting on campus by 11, you're pushing your luck as to how close/far away you'll park.I'd much rather be a bit early then risk getting stuck in parking lot traffic. As for the State fan, where are you coming from? IF coming from the west, get off on Nicholson Dr. the first exit as you're getting off the bridge. Take a left on Nicholson heading towards the campus & go down as far as you can get. U turn on Nicholson & park heading away from campus. Most of the neighborhoods offer pay parking, i.e. in yards, but a lot depends on when you are getting on campus.
