It's simply not smart to try to send that much of a "message" to the candidates. It's a losing strategy.

Much as I may not like it, it just is.

They voted their conscience, that what matters.

I do not mean that at all.

If Republicans were smart, they would roll out far-left loons who are all in on everything crazy like environment, drugs and immigrants...just to pick off a vote or two. Go all Ralph Nader on 'em.

It's the only way to get republicans to have more reasonable policies. If the R's don't like losing libertarian votes, stop talking about abortion/gay marriage and start pushing for (and actually voting for) smaller government in fiscal matters.

Couldn't you say that Republicans are costing the libertarians?

Wouldn't Libertarians be viable if Republicans dropped out?

I cast mostly Libertarian votes in Texas without even thinking about it. I'm sure most in VA did the same.

Wrong. The National GOP fricked VA (assuming it's a loss). Same thing they did with Cuccinelli.

Mother frickin THIS. The GOP should be destroying this horrible democratic regime tonight. But instead they are picking up a few seats. It's so fricking dumb for old white men to focus on gay marriage and abortion.

Good. Silly republicans could have supported the Libertarian candidate. They didn't. They lose.

Or the Republicans can nominate candidates who lay off the social issues and oppose civil liberties abuses, and there's no reason to vote for the Libertarian.

If your end goal is simply electing Republicans, that is a losing strategy.

Here is the message: Republican policies suck and Democrat policies suck worse. Neither party has done anything worth a shite in a long damn time.

while I agree in principle, don't you have to start a movement like this at the bottom level? so that when it reaches the federal level, there is a viable chance of winning?

My goal would be to unelect as many Democrats as possible.
