Chicago Cubs Throbbing Megaboner Offseason Sploosh Emporium Thread

So, the Cubs have hired a new manager--Joe Maddon--to a 5 year/$25MM contract. This is how the clubhouse looks right now:
The Cubs have been connected to just about every free agent to be for this offseason, including Jon Lester, Max Scherzer, James Shields, Russell Martin, David Robertson, Brett Anderson, Colby Rasmus, Brandon Morrow, among many others.
The Cubs did sign Tsuyoshi Wada to a one year/$4MM contract and picked up Jacob Turner's 2015 option.
Other than impending free agent signings at pitcher and likely catcher, the Cubs should be in on a free agent outfield bat.
The Cubs will probably feature one of MLB's most youthful, ipmactful, and top-prospect laden lineups in 2015. Arismendy Alcantara, Javi Baez, Jorge Soler and Kyle Hendricks all made their debuts last year and made impacts for the Cubs. Next year we'll more than likely see Kris Bryant at 3B within the first weeks of the season and probably Addison Russell some time after the All-Star Break.
Wrigley Field is undergoing some pretty legit upgrades in the bleachers and surrounding rooftops.
It's an exciting time to be a Cubs fan. It feels like it's been forever. But, it's happening!

Too bad (not really) that they are cursed so none of it matters.

Olney seems to think we are going to end up signing Russell Martin

He will see as many winning seasons and World Series championships as Harry.

Same.
I'm actually interested in the baseball off season for the first time in about 4 years. This thread should be fun.

Even though I think 4 years is one too many it's the lowest you can reasonably predict. If it gets to 5 and the cubs sign him please everyone forgive my "god dammit Jim Hendry" outburst.

I think I'd be okay with signing Martin with option years, honestly. The window to compete is just barely starting to creak open. If the free agent pitching signings come true, then you have to have a guy like Russell Martin calling the game. Look what he did for the Pittsburgh Pirates pitching staff.

Well Harry did broadcast 3 World Series. Not to bad if we only keep joe the 5 on his contract.

I'd like to add two SPs. Pay for an ace and then get a serviceable #2/#3.
I think we end up with Lester as the ace, he probably won't cost as much as Scherzer.
Of the names being thrown around, I like in order:
Justin Masterson--Heavy 2seamer would be good in Wriglery. He's also a year removed from putting up great numbers.
B-Mac -- Really low walk-rate, another plus in Wrigley. He also can't be given the QO by Yankees, so we wouldn't lose anything if we sign him.
Brett Anderson is also intriguing at the price.

This is more than likely his last lucrative contract, I'll be shocked if he's doing option years and instead looks for one last payday.
