I didn't pay to watch Military Housewives: Giant Monster Edition.

I paid to watch giant monsters duke it out.

Who's bright idea was it to cut off at the start of every fight scene?

And their nuke plan was just fricking dumb.

Oh my God. Watch the old Godzilla movies. Godzilla is briefly shown throughout the film and then has a fight session at the end.

Every. Single. Movie.

The "lack" of Godzilla was only a surprise to the knuckle dragging idiots that watched Pacific Rim and those that didn't see Edwards first movie Monsters.

And I'll repeat, if the MUTOS were a more recognizable Godzilla villain like King Ghidorah or Gigan then nobody would be complaining about lack of Godzilla.

but they weren't. the mutos had no personality and no one identified them with any of the monsters that they grew up loving when they grew up. it is an issue and one the producers should have considered.

Because King Ghidorah and Gigan had so much personality

The male MUTO was even looked like a combination of Rodan and Gigan

Nostalgia would be the only difference and the studio didn't have the rights to use any of the other Toho monsters. They will for the next film so I expect everyone's bitching to go away, even if the movie sticks with the same formula

Look, I'm not knocking the lack of nostalgia. I completely understand that they couldn't get the rights to the bigger names. That isn't the issue.

The issue is the rest of it. The movie is called Godzilla.

It should have a bit more Godzilla.

Same thing that happened in Dark Knight Rises. Apparently nobody knows how nukes work.

Again, its not much different than the old Godzilla movies. Edwards teases the audience more with the early shots, but the formula is the same.

Bad monsters wrecking shite. Godzilla makes an appearance. More bad monsters wrecking shite. Another Godzilla appearance. Godzilla and bad monsters duke it out for 15 mins at the end. The vast majority of the movie is spent on people running around and doing shite.

There are several old Godzilla movies on Netflix. I suggest watching them and comparing how much screen time Godzilla gets in them vs. the Edwards version. Godzilla vs. Mothra doesn't count though because Godzilla is the bad monster wrecking shite.

And for the record I prefer Godzilla being the villain than the hero. I'd rather see him wreck the world than save it

I left the theatres thinking it was pretty good but it's not a movie I would care to watch again or feel a sequel is necessary.

This.

I thought I was going to see a movie where Bryan Cranston chased Godzilla around.

Instead I got this guy...

I had a thread on how much this sucked not long ago. The characters were shallow (except the one who dies 30 minutes into the movie) and the plot was uninteresting and disjointed.

But, because of foreigners and their love of monsters and robots, we will soon have a sequel.

this. the muto's didn't even have a name lol. and i don't ever recall any of the old godzilla movies cutting away from a fight scene like they did in this movie.

I don't get the hate for this movie. It is leaps and bounds better than the last effort.

Most Godzilla movies are character driven with some monster fights.

Typically a monster shows up, causes destruction, godzilla shows up, godzilla is temporarily out of action, godzilla comes back and kicks arse.

That is the exact formula for this movie.

My only beef being the disneyfied scenes with kids being saved and instantly reunited with parents and loved ones.

The fights were very well done.

Funny, I bet a pile of you who hated this movie, hated Superman for having too much action.
