I know this was discussed a while ago, but I heard it's official. They are tearing down the complex that contains PTB and putting in a Wal Mart. PTB is going to have a small space on Tulane Ave, where they were before Katrina.
Sucks.
Sucks.

Yeah it does suck for the Wank but I've known this for awhile.
They will absolutely KILL IT in that location.

I just ate there today. Karl and Laura didn't say anything to me.

Do they usually keep you up to date on the latest PTB news?
Heard they are kind of keeping it on the DL until the end of the year.

I talk with them all the time. It didn't come up. I shot the shite with them for about 15 minutes today.

Surprised they weren't lobbying for a Fatty Weekend mention.

Karl told me a few months ago, but nothing was official at that point.

well you broke it. I bet one or two blog sites pick it up from this thread alone. You know how that goes.

The original was (is still maybe?) one of the most popular pho shops in Saigon.
I guess they're all sort of named after it. I think Karl's mother may be related to the original Saigon place's owners, but don't hold me to that.

Someone should post this in the Gretna vs Metairie thread on the OT

Walked by that location an hour ago and wished it would have been open. Now I see this thread.

The son of the owners told me, if my memory serves, that his grandfather had a string of them in Vietnam by that name. They were very popular. I suspect that many immigrants familiar with the original borrowed that name when they opened restaurants in the US.
