Arrived around 6:30 pm and there were only 2 or 3 other tables -- not a good sign. Started out w/ half a dozen Naked Roy oysters from WA.

These had a much richer flavor than traditional gulf oysters, and had a much frillier shell.

I also had 1/2 dozen raw from Chef Creek, British Columbia.

Another solid oyster, featuring a beautiful deep shell. You can see the difference between the Chef Creek shell and a Gulf Coast oyster shell below

I also tried 3 of their other varieties: chargrilled, NOLA BBQ, and brie/bacon.

All three types were extremely tasty and I really enjoyed them. I recommend all three.

All in all I had 2 dozen oysters, and a Coke, and the total w/ tip was $53. I liked the place, but my only gripe was that the price was a little steep.

Glad it was good. The price was right. WC or Canadian oysters will run $2 each, and chargrilled will be $18 a dozen anywhere.

I just have a big appetite, and was still a little hungry when I left. No biggie, though -- I came home and ate a big bowl of Frosted Flakes.

what's the point of putting so much ice under the oysters when they're served?

always thought that was a waste of ice because they only sit on them for bout 5-10 minutes. looks good i guess and prevents them from sliding. maybe i answered my own question lol.

I'm with you. Two dozen oysters will be a starter for me. But, compare those prices and they'll be in line with others.

The more oysters I eat, the more I realize Gulf oysters are pretty shitty.

love Gulf oysters for price, but taste, even in colder months, does not compete with true cold water oysters

I prefer the taste of a December to March Gulf oyster to any with the exception, maybe, of East Coast oysters from NC and up. I wouldn't pay 10 bucks for a 100 count sack of WC oysters.

I really wanted the VA oysters they had on the menu, but they were out. My favorite are Island Creek.

I think the interior is drab. Not much thought went into it. It's too open and pedestrian.

Other than that, oysters were good.

Thanks for the review. I thought about going tonight, but I don't know if I could fill myself up with raw oysters. Or how I would feel after eating enough chargrilled ones to fill me up. They need to put an oyster pasta dish, or fried oysters, or an oyster casserole on the menu.

I think the need an oyster poboy on the menu, and a pasta option or gumbo would be nice.

The bacon and brie sounds great.

They were good, but at 8 for $18 they were also the most expensive thing on the menu.

Their grilled oysters were too expensive and i didnt think they were very good at all. Didn't try any other types.

this

$3.75 per oyster at Peche and worth every penny.

Far superior in taste to Gulf oysters. There...I said it.
