Yet Thompson graded out just average to slightly better throughout his NBA career defensively. James Harden grades out equally if not just slightly better than Thompson on the defensive end.

I like Derozan better right now at well. He stepped up his game last season and became a much better well-rounded player. That said, I do believe Thompson will get there, eventually. The Warriors are paying a premium right now for what he's potentially going to become. Thompson right now is a Reggie Miller lite type player... not a max player.

The first time max is peanuts right now in a GMs mind. Once the new TV deal kicks in the cap room will skyrocket.

I just look at Vucevic's contract(I know different positions) and can't believe what a bargain they got. He plays a premium position and quite frankly the better young and valuable player. Klay got at least 10 million too much.

Came here to say Demar is better as well... He's an extremely under rated player and has been improving each and every year and adds something new to his game. After the Raptors traded Gay, DeRozan averaged like 20+ppg, 5+rebs, 5+assists or right around those #s. Only a handful of players averaged at least 20ppg, 5rebs, and 5assists and those guys were like LBJ, Curry, Harden, Westbrook, etc, etc.
And other SGs I would take over Thompson are: Harden, DeRozan, Dragic, Lance Stephenson, healthy Wade, etc. Last year Thompsons PER was 14.32, tied with Beal for 25th out of all SGs. Thompson is a great shooter, don't get me wrong. And is an above average defender. But hes not that good at rebounding and passing. Last year he averaged 3rebs and 2assists. And he plays along side some pretty good players...
He's worth a $13-$15m deal... But $17.5m is overpaying for him. And it's much more than Curry is getting (4 for $44m). Actually, Curry should be making the $17m a year and Thompson the $11m a year... That would be reasonable.
