I have some simmering in the crock pot and want to come up with some new way to serve it.

I've done the rice, pasta, fritos, plain, on a baked potato, sour cream, cheese, onions, etc.

All good but wondering if there are some other ideas.

I like stew meat instead of ground beef. Gives more flavor

We haven't had chili dogs in a long while. Good idea.

Also like the omelet idea.

Stew meat is good, but this one is already made.

I usually add kidney beans. Tried black beans this time.

A bit of slice avocado is one thing I thought of.

+1 on the cornbread. Mix up the cornbread batter, get the chili simmering hot, then spread the cornbread right on top of the chili. Bake until browned & done through. Serve in big scoops....or make individual servings in soup crocks w/a cornbread topping.

Mix some goodies into your cornbread batter to complement the chili: chopped green chiles or roasted red peppers, a half a cup of sweet corn kernels, or maybe a big handful of shredded pepperjack cheese.

Always great loaded on fries, tots, or hash browns.

did this recently, and came out with this.

doesn't look all that appealing, but was freaking delicious.

If you use 1)more chili and 2)a wider pan, the cornbread layer will be thinner and more like a crust rather than a big bread with a little chili underneath. Or make half as much cornbread batter to get a thinner layer. It will be easier to cut & serve. Chili on the thicker side helps, too.

yeah, i'll make half the cornbread recipe next time. don't get me wrong, i loved the cornbread combo on top of the chili, but you're right, in this case, you just want it as kind of a crust and not an insanely thick layer of cornbread. delicious nonetheless.

about once a year I do that, except I make it a moist dense layer on top of Mexican cornbread, loaded with cheese, peppers, onions, and creamed corn.

Regular is delicious too
