IF they played and lost to LSU in week 2, everything else the same, would you object to them being #4?

Bingo.

I'm glad we didn't have to face them in Week 2.

Yes. I don't know which is more egregious, Ole Miss at No. 4 or Alabama at No. 6.
It certainly gives credence to those pointing out SEC bias.

I'm an SEC guy through and through but I'm trying to be unbias here.

their resumes rather easily stack up against all of the best 1 loss non sec teams.

Who do you think should be ahead of Oregon?

They were 3rd(?) before the game. Then they lose. And they are still in the playoff, as of now, at 4.

Wut?

we don't play what ifs..they claim the game was close, but

LSU mauled Ole Miss...if the score reflected the beating, the score would have been more like 27-0.

Yet, we are 19 and they are 4?

LSU is much improved and that's the main objective of rankings.. where do they belong?

The committee is not great thus far.

Of course it is.
Previous polls and previous seasons have no bearing on today. Ole Miss is #4, and there is ample math to back up that assertion. The only thing you have cited as evidence that they should be ranked lower is:
1. Four games
2. Your "eye test"

Do you have anything else, or do you just want to wave the white flag and watch First Take?

They beat Alabama, that's like one step shy of beating an NFL team, duh.

They're in the ballpark for sure. I just can't see justifying losing to an unranked team and still be among the Top 4, especially when their best win was against an Alabama team that has beaten nobody.

I agree. I'm just curious to know where a No. 4 team would be ranked prior to losing to an unranked team.
Your super duper computer said No. 2.
Which tells me that a computer that would drop a No. 2 team to No. 4 after losing to an unranked team, has its flaws.

You're saying this because you're either too dumb or too lazy to do math. You don't know what you're talking about. I know exactly what I'm talking about. I do my homework. You apply an eye test.

Now you've got me curious, what math gave you the result that a No. 2 team loses to an unranked team and only falls to No. 4.
I recognize this as Alabama math, but now you've thrown a new wrinkle in there with Ole Miss.

Tons of it. LINK

As far as my specific formula, it's basically winning percentage plus strength of schedule plus quality win points minus a certain number of points for any losses to lower-division opponents. It's more complicated than that, obviously, but there's no chance in all hell that you would understand it, so I would advise you to spend the next two or three weeks studying some of the formulas in the link I provided for you and then get back to me with any questions or concerns you may have. Beware: if you exhibit a 3rd-grade-level knowledge of mathematics with your response, I will point and laugh at you and encourage others to do the same. Math is hard, bro.

Who has notre dame beaten?

Who did Arizona lose to?

Neither of those teams deserve to be ahead of Ole Miss

Nah, math is easy.

Arbitrarily assigning points for things like quality wins and losses to lower-division opponents, that's the hard part.

How would you know it's arbitrary? It's all over your head. You don't understand any of it.

How would you know it's arbitrary?
Because you haven't explained how you arrive at assigning points to the things mentioned.
