If so, what's the pros and cons.

Any problems/issues?

I only really see the point if you have bigger tires because a tuner will re calibrate MPG, shift points, etc. There are definitely some performance gains as well depending on the tuner. Check out 5 Star Custom Tunes online.

Will these tuners damage the engine or tranny?

Would hate to frick something up and not have it covered under warranty.

No but I think I recently recall someone offering a warranty with their tunes. I'll look for it later

Thanks. I'm not that concerned with getting more power as it has plenty, but I'd love to get better gas mileage.

I just bought their stage 2 intake setup and will be ordering a tuner next month and exhaust will follow.
I haven't noticed any power improvement but throttle response is a little better as the turbos are able to spool easier/faster. I'm hoping for some big gains from the tuner in both power and mpg. Exhaust should really wake it up but that will be early next year after the warranty runs out.

Keep us updated on this mod. I'm sure there are several others who'd be interested in your results.

Tuners can and will void your warranty depending on your dealer - most people return them to stock tuning when they take them in for service - I still think it blueprints your computer and the dealer knows if a tuner is being used...

Quick run down...

Tuner WILL void your warranty. Unless it is something totally unrelated to the tune. The days of returning to stock and nobody knowing is over.

I gain 1.5 mpg (with intake and exhaust)

I also gain 60 hp and 100 tq (with intake and exhaust)

They CAN blow your motor. Most tuners are conservative with their tunes and others take them to the max to prove they have the best tune. It would be good to learn how to datalog your truck so you can see it's knock count, boost pressure, etc.

I say tune it, but if something goes wrong dont look to Ford to fix it.

Not a chance I'm willing to take as long as it's in warranty.

I talked to a guy who was getting ridiculous numbers with an efi live on the ecoboost. Only gas truck numbers I've ever seen better than mine.

I have a 2012 crewcab ecoboost. I was getting 23 mpg on the highway with my stock 18's on the truck. I decided to put some 22" rims on it & I got tires that were the same over all height as my stock tires so that it wouldn't screw up my speedometer. When i put the 22's on my mpg dropped to 15 mpg on the highway. I added a stage 2 CAI & brought the mpg up to 17. I then added a SCT tuner with the 87 performance tune from 5 star tuning. That brought it up to 19 mpg. i get about 14 mpg pulling my boat.

I'm pretty sure EFI Live is only for GMs. Probably means SCT.

I've got factory 20's on mine. Do you think they hurt the gas mileage that much?

If so, seems like what you've done will pay for itself in gas savings.

I dropped 8 mpg when i put on aftermarket 22's on my truck but I had stock 18's. If your truck came with factory 20's, you should be fine. I think my aftermarket rims are just heavier. What is your highway mpg right now?

I'm getting 17.3 at 70 mph but supposedly that will come up a little after a few miles. Driving to College Station for work today so I'll see.

I don't k of about Ford, but in my gmc, I purchased a separate ecm that I could swap out when/if it needed service.

I want to say the factory 20s are about 14 lbs a piece heavier than the 18s. I would help a little.

It's different with Ford. Ford computers can detect if a non-ford program has been installed and throw a diagnostic code. I did the same on my GM a while back.

Dude. Roush makes one installed at ford dealership that won't void warranty.

50 HP at rear wheels and 85ft/lbs of torque

Just go there and save your warranty. $700 installed at local ford placw
