Both clubs sell major impact players and spend their 100 plus million on what seems to be average players at best.

Liverpool should have broken the bank on a big name impact player( not sure if the afterthought of Andy Carroll is still there) and a few other champions league quality players to go along. We saw Spurs frick it up and BR even said they won't pull a Spurs. But its starting to look like it. Now that they are in the meat of fixtures and its going to be a grind from now till the spring. BR has been average at best with his transfers other than Danny Boy. The back line wasn't fixed which it needed to be when you don't have Luis anymore who helped overcome a lot of problems on defense.

I know it has to be frustrating for Liverpool fans to see Arsenal get Sanchez, City get who ever they want. Chelsea get Cesc and Coasta. Then to top it off United get Di Maria, a young stud like Herrera and Falcao while not even being in the champions league.

What makes you think there weren't attempts to sign a big name player? Admittedly, it is harder to follow this stuff from across the pond, but it appeared there was a sincere effort to bring Sanchez to Liverpool. It just didn't work out.

Liverpool sold their best player, bought all shite guys, had issues integrating players, coach is a moron and lost Sturridge for almost the whole season. Arsenal, United and Tottenham are still looking up at them in the table so what are their excuses?

Yes. As a Spurs fan, I could see it. Suarez scored goals lots of times when it didn't even look like a chance was there. Only certain players have that capability, and it can cover incredible flaws in a philosophy. Now Liverpool leaves themselves as vulnerable to the counter without scoring like they were.

A player who has a very similar ability to pull goals out of nowhere is Kun Aguero, but I believe that City can score goals without him. Liverpool has plenty of talent though. They will figure it out at some point, although I think they need to replace Gerrard with a real enforcer.

That alot of times falls on the manager. Just look at Moyes

They are all within in 2 points of each other and it could be reversed after this weekend. But now the real grind has started it will be interesting to see how the squad holds up.

Well Gerrard never was an enforcer. He in reality is being played out of position. Would be better to see him higher up but not playing every match. So they could get the most out of him when they use him and not average at best every game.

This is one you could see coming from a mile away. They blew that money so hard. All summer I had no idea what they were thinking/doing but it's playing out just like I thought it would.

Yes. All of this. I think Liverpool needs to take note of how Chelsea used Lampard. He still scored some huge goals in the last couple of years, but he didn't play every game. And then they let him go. I couldn't see Gerrard ever playing somewhere else. But they are letting a legend hold them back.

It was always my fear of trying to replace a lot of players at once... Right now, IMO, the one big bust has been Lovren and we clearly over paid for Lallana... Other than that, we bought a lot of young talent that aren't necessarily ready to be full time starters... I don't mind that, but we def needed players that were ready to contribute immediately

I don't think we were ever going to break the bank on any one player... Sanchez seemed to be our biggest target... Ant though we sounded out Falcao, that was too expensive for us... Balo was a last resort and a gamble that has yet to pay off

That said, somehow we are tied, points wise, for fourth... Hopefully, we can get Sturridge back and start to get better... Reassess in Jan

We could also start a thread on how the tactical genius has all that talent below us in the table after playing the bottom feeders of the EPL so far... Tough four game stretch coming up too

It just sucks that 6-7 new faces can't all be immediate impact guys from day 1. It sucks that it actually takes time for guys to settle in.

One point and going into last weekend was ahead of Liverpool. Don't get so butt hurt. United need a major overhaul and spent roughly 30 more million than Liverpool. Get your panites out of a wad. United also has more points vs common opponents. But this thread isn't about them.

This has been a trend over a few years though.

Yep, we needed depth because of all the competitions we are in... Injuries and new so many new faces isn't ideal...

IMO, our needs in Jan are a DM and striker.. I'd be happy with calling back Origi

I don't think we'll go after a CB. I originally thought Lovren was being brought in to partner Sakho.. That doesn't seem the case. I still think Sakho is our best defender... I hope he gets a good run of games when healthy again.

They should have spent some money on a keeper. Mignolet is bad.

I've said this earlier, but our back-up keeper (Michael Vorm) is better than Mignolet.

SCH, it isn't butt hurt.. It's just the numerous fricking threads and posts about LFC I am reacting to... You post more about LFC in match threads than any of our supporters.. So don't get defensive if people react.. Some may not, but I will continue to call you out for the count you are at times.. And yes, I get banter and it's cool

We have well documented our troubles in the season thread... You know, you read it.. And no one is happy with our season

So, I just like to point out that you seem to have as many problems as us, and may be lucky to get 3 points out of the next 12

What is wrong with this thread? Im not shite talking just posting a thread to stir up discussion. Especially after some of stuff ive seen posted on the internet. No banter or count like actions here. Just you over reacting.

Like I said, Liverpool should not sell Suarez for any price unless they went out and bought two proven studs (namely Costa and Cesc).
