Will there ever be a 51st state?

With this 'South Florida" stuff in the news today LINK I wonder if it will ever happen.
I know Conservative parts of Liberal states like Washington and Oregon and Colorado have wanted out. Also DC has wanted statehood, and Puerto Rico seems like it could be a state one day. Plus that plan to split California up into six states (which made sense). I just wonder if we will see a flag change eventually. It's been the longest run without a new state in our nation's history (1959 till now)

There will be so much arguing based on if this would be a blue or red state that we will break apart into two or three different countries + Texas before a 51st state gets added.

They won't add one state, but if they ever did add states, it will be an even number, most likely two, Porta Rico and Virgin Islands.

I'd like to see California split into multiple states. Even if the only reason is for better representation of electoral votes I'd say it would be worth it.
The idea that a candidate could win 51-49 but the electoral votes go 100-0 is ridiculous.

It's like the Missouri Compromise all over again.
You have a left leaning state (Franklin) that wants out of right leaning Tennessee and N. Carolina.
You have a right leaning state (Jefferson) that wants out of left leaning Oregon and Washington.
Then left leaning South Florida wants out of toss-up state Florida.

historically they have added on state to make odd numbers.
It has happened, but I can see us jump from 50 to 60.
I would welcome South Florida, Franklin, Jefferson, Northern Colorado, Puerto Rico, North California, Silicon Valley, West California, South California and Columbia to our Nation.

Wyoming would take part of it before it ever broke off into it's own state....Besides, Fort Collins is considered Northern Colorado and it is just as left leaning as Denver and Boulder
