Maybe you just can't grow a man's beard.

What sort of job makes you stay clean shaven?

Most petrochemical job sites do not allow facial hair FYI. I wouldn't be allowed to enter most of my main customers' sites with facial hair

and shave your face dude, if you have no issue going into work 8 days unshaven you probably can't even grow full facial hair. I thought it was awesome that I could grow facial hair senior year of high school but now cringe at old pictures. You likely look like you have pubes glued to your face and don't even realize it.

I work from home. I don't even think I looked into a mirror today.

When I worked at a restaurant I would grow it out until I was told otherwise, despite a "clean shaven" policy.

As long as you keep it groomed I doubt they say anything

I'll use myself as an example, 30+ years at the company, I make it a point to meet or exceed what was expected of me the day I started, because as I was told that day "you are basically unsupervised workers, we hired you because we trust that you will uphold the standards that have been put forth," I'm not a nerd, but I take that seriously, those who don't, in my mind are just slackers

Well while you're spending all this time everyday worrying about maintaining a grooming standard, some innovative young buck with a beard is taking your company into tomorrow, old man.

Peter, I've seen this movie, it's called "Office Space". The occupational hypnotist dies after suggesting you don't care about your work any more. You are stuck not caring about Initech.

PS: Watch your cornhole.

Good God, man. Take it down a notch. It's a beard. If his company doesn't like the direction he's taking, they'll say something. No one's going to fire someone for a dress code/hygiene issue unless they repeatedly ignore the company's wishes.

With that said, it's some bullshite that there are companies out there that won't allow someone in, say, an office job to grow a beard. You mean to tell me that my naturally occurring growth is something that I should keep under wraps so that I can be a better…auditor? My beard is more distracting than my female peer’s ever-changing hair colors?

It's so frustrating to see just how much pretense we go through that has no functional worth.

If you work at a refinery and have to wear a respirator, you'll be required to shave everyday.
