Can both sides at least agree that this St. George fiasco has been one giant distraction from the embarrassingly dysfunctional EBR school system? I mean it really is terrible.

I hope like heck Baton Rouge doesn't use legal delaying tactics on the vote, short of evidence appearing that absolute fraud has taken place to obtain the signatures.
I've read more than once, for example, where the EBR school board has debated spending some significant money on what might become a SG school and having to justify spending it with the specter of that school being carved out of the EBR system.
I don't agree with that philosophy but it's only human nature for some people to think that way.

Sure I saw the link after I had already read one article regarding the subject from the BR Business Report. My mistake was that I assumed it was the same information, but obviously it was not.
Is that legal here?

No shite. Imagine if they had spent half the effort they spent gathering signatures trying to actually get reformers elected to the school board? EBR schools suck fricking arse - it shouldn't be that hard for a motivated and funded group who wants reform to get people elected. BUt of course - many if not most of the folks spearheading the St George "movement" have their kids in private school and don't actually give a frick if EBR schools succeed or not!

Considering they only need 16,500 signatures verified I think what they turned in is more than enough to get on the ballot.

It's obvious you have no clue as to the politics involved and the political makeup of the various school board districts.
Getting two even three reformers elected carries little weight.
Groups have tried, groups have had some successes, but they are outnumbered by people who seem more interested in their politics than educating the kids.

They have to be valid signatures from eligible voters who live in the right place. Tigahs and I tried to get something on the ballot like 10 years ago and the advice we got was you need 25% more than the requirement to assure you'll have enough left over after ineligibles are tossed.
Personally I don't understand why Republicans aren't upset that you can sign this petition without a photo ID.

Then get more elected.

Back in August Rainey was quoted as saying they thought they needed a minimum of 20,000 signatures when they thought the magic number was 17,500, or about a 15% cushion.
Now that 16,500 seems to be the required number, a 15% cushion would equal around 18,975. They turned in approximately 18,200. Of course if they don't have enough signatures, by law they have an additional 60 days to make up the difference.
Doing the math since their last announced # of signatures in August, they have been averaging about 75 signatures/week recently.
The wildcard is now that the petition has been submitted, the SG opponents can now submit the documents they have accumulated from petition signers who have changed their mind and want their signatures removed from the petition. The Registrar of Voters refused to accept those signature withdrawal forms prior to the submission of the petition. She said until the petition was submitted she had nothing to remove signatures from. Now she does.

You don't have a point, and you have little understanding of the dynamics of the situation.
We have a dysfunctional school board, and it isn't going to change via elections.

May Olive is going to sue on behalf of the city or city parish.
That's the next step it seems.
Mary Olive is the gift that keeps on giving. She and Delgado who was also on TV last night.
