Bingo. It's done every play. To call it in the end of the game is complete bull shite

No it isn't. You are full of shite. Anybody who is being honest realizes that was not an every play occurrence. The guy was unbelievably open without making any kind of move or fake whatsoever.

i guarantee you FSU got away with the same "holding" multiple times in this game without any call

So did Notre Dame. I was watching for it. Holding happens on every play. You only notice if it happens to the team you are routing for.

Bunch of fricking sheep in this thread. "By the book" sure it's correct but it's ticky tack as frick and is never called 95% of the time. So instead you call it on the game winning play to prevent victory?

Because Herbstreit claims it's a penalty on TV no one can form their own opinion.

I agree with that. You see that all the time without a flag. Hate to see that call decide a game.

Not really, WR's got to at least make it look like they are somewhat interested in running a route.

When Lou is saying the call was right, it was right.

He sure was open. So why was the CB holding the ND WR at the line. Why was he locked on with his arms? They got outschemed on tha play and were bailed out by a little home cooking. Hate to see a game like that decided by zebras.

So did fowler and even fricking Lou "ND" Holtz. I could give 2 fricks if herbi thinks it was a penalty.

Because the WR ran right into him

Are you mad they only let them get away with a pick once instead of twice?

Jesus Christ. This does not happen on every play. That's probably the most open I've ever seen a wide receiver on man to man coverage with no play action or fake. The guy literally just took 3 steps and had none within 10 yards of him. That was incredibly illegal and for good reason.

WR's are allowed to block too, you know. Two guys got tangled up and the refs used that.as an excuse to settle the outcome. Wildly inappropriate.

Not on a pass play or when the ball is in the air....

Why do you think? You think he just decided to switch guys to cover? Don't be ridiculous. Obviously he was trying to get around that block and was unable.

I had the volume down and couldn't even really hear what Herby was saying.

I did see the WR run-blocking his man on a pass play to free up the receiver, so there's that.

I really think Robinson would have been open regardless, so it's certainly a shame, but it was the right call.

Right call but that type of pick/rub happens multiple times in every game and is never called.

This was my biggest issue. With spread offenses pick routes like that happen many times a game and don't get called.

Technically, the call was correct. But the timing, and the fact that there was a gray area on whether the DB or the WR actually held, really leaves that flag suspect in my eyes. That was literally the game.

Watching the replay, the DB turned back and looked at the other FSU defenders as if one of them missed an assignment. It looked simply like he was jamming his man, he made no real attempt to disengage and cover the other guy until after the ball was caught.

Bad call in my eyes all day long.

Then why don't we just make different rules for end of game plays in close games??
