We lose two senior starters on offense (La'El and Porter) plus contributors in Hilliard, Magee, Stokes and Dickson.

We lose one senior starter on defense (Rasco) plus DJ Welter and Ronald Martin.

If everyone came back and the QBs developed, LSU could be scary good in 2015. Of course, it is LSU so not everyone will come back and, in fact, some who should come back will go pro and be out of football by 2016. So here is the list of draft eligible folks that might consider leaving. Of the list, I think only Dural should even think about it but who else do you think leaves:

Vadal Alexander
Kwon Alexander
Jalen Collins
Travin Dural
Danielle Hunter
Debo Jones
Lamar Louis
Jalen Mills
Quentin Thomas

Vadal is gone but he better get motivated or he won't make it out of any training camp
Kwon tough call, I think he comes back to be a sr leader
Jalen will be back
Travin is likely gone and the reason I say that is he's already had a bad injury and strike while the iron is hot - the numbers he has put up with the terrible QB play is amazing
Hunter is another tough call - doesn't wow you much and his stats over two years do not warrant him coming out this year, I think he comes back
Jones Debo will be back
Lamar Louis will be back
Jalen Mills likely back
Q will have to come back

well, as usual, things are simple. if we have no early nfl entrants we will be a great football team. if the usual number go, we may be fricked again. losing the Alexanders, colling, dural, jones and hunter will be catastrophic imo. oh and add Thomas to that list.

we need some seniors! it's a HUGE difference.

Not usually but it's apt this year. The remainder of 2014 is about preparation for 2015

The NFL changed their draft grades for juniors this year to 1st round, 2nd round, stay in school, and they are also limiting it to 5 per school.

Not sure this will make a difference, but I hope it does. When I look at the draft eligible underclassmen on this team, I don't see a definite top 2 round player.

Save this discussion for March when the boredom strikes fully.
At that time you'll get 50 pages.

the QBs developed

This is the part that is most concerning. QB play has been detrimental to the offense. Since Jimbo Fisher left, the only successful QBs we've had were 5th year seniors. This has to change for 2015. We have to too much talent on offense to not utilize the passing attack.

Jerald Hawkins

He is a RS Sophomore like Brockers was. Not saying he should or will go but it will be on his mind.

IMO Mills goes - I saw somewhere that he is in the top 40 on someones big board. I dont think he is THAT good, but if someone tells you that you are top 40, you go.
Kwon goes - I think he is good enough, and will likely be a mid round pick.
Vadal goes - Mid round pick
Everyone else stays. Call it a hunch, I dont think any of the other players are good enough to go yet. I think its not always gonna be like the last two years. I think some ppl on this board are jaded from the last two years and those ppl just think every junior is gonna go pro. I dont think its always gonna be like that.

It doesn't hurt to look to the future. I promise you that the coaches are constantly thinking about the future and the present.

1. QB experience will be a benefit. AJ and BH will be back while a lot of the SEC will lose their QBs (Bama, OM, Arky, MSU, AU - yes I think Marshall leaves and Dak)
2. We lose Hilliard and Magee, but we return LF and Williams who look great so far and add Guice and Brossette)
3. WRs will all return. I promise. Even with a stellar season that Dural is showing, it's not the same type of season OBJ and Landry had. If he wants to make it to the pros he needs to hone his skills and bulk up. This will turn from out weakest point this year to our strongest next year.
4. Collins is gone, but I bet he imparts his wisdom to Vadal and he stays. Collins draft stock greatly increased with staying another year. Shift around some pieces and bringing in the 5* OT Tahmel(sp) will help. Another year in the zone blocking scheme will benefit.
5. DL. Rasco is gone, but Hunter will stay. I think Freak leaving early and going unstaffed opened some eyes. Hunter needs that extra season to show what he has. Interior all returns. Will actually be a strength especially with the improvement they have made.
6. Line backing corp. Beckwith returns to anchor the middle. Most will return with the exception of Kwon. I think he is only 1 of 2 ready to go, but he may opt to stay. Will be interesting.
7. DBU :) Mills might leave. He has shown the goods since being on campus. Tre, Robinson, Collins, and all the highly touted freshman. Adams and his floppy self.

In theory it sets up for a good season. I honestly think that one bad season humbled a lot of players. They realized that they cannot just come in here, underperform, and expect to just jump to the pros. Will certainly help juniors staying.

I'm in. But let's kill the rest of this season first :)

He has a great chance to prove himself if he returns since he would have to be first in line to take over at left tackle. If he excels there, Hawkins will see his draft value skyrocket.

Let all of them play the season out. I'm sure LSU will have a few, seems the norm, but many will not get high grades.

Collins very possibly may not have helped his stock one bit by coming back, so I am not sure where you think he'll impart wisdom for Alexander.

If anything, no one thought Turner would go as high as he did last year, and that will likely have a bigger impact on Alexander's decision than coming back to block in a scheme that he doesn't really fit.

Vadal Alexander, Jerald Hawkins, Danielle Hunter, Kwon Alexander, and Jalen Mills are the really important ones. The others are not that important. We need all 5 of these to stay or at least 4 of them.

We are losing 4 of our top 7 on the offensive line in Collins, Porter, Fanaika, and Washington. We should still be very good if we return Alexander, Hawkins, and Pocic. We should be able to develop 2 new starters. More than that would be cause for legitimate concern.

Hunter is our only pass rush threat, Kwon Alexander is our best defensive player, and Mills is oour veteran safety. Losing more than 1 of those would hurt big time.

We keep hearing that LSU will be scary good in 2015. While I agree they will be better (I think they will be better by the end of the season than they are now), I see no reason to think they will make huge strides relative to the ample competition in the SECw.

Auburn will be very strong again. Alabama will likely be as good. Ole Miss will arguably be better next year than they are this year. State will likely take a small step back, but will still be a solid Top 25 team (if Dak comes back, Top 10). Arkansas has shown drastic improvement as well. Texas A&M should be better for the same reasons we should be better - experience.

In short, we could be much better and still finish 3rd or 4th in the West.

If the LSU QB play does not improve drastically, then next year could be very similar to this year.
