Got my first taste of saltwater fishing. My 1st thought was a bay boat. More versatile than a bass rig. Now I have found the gatortail XL. My redneck eyes have never seen a more impressive sight. What's the OB's thoughts?

Edited for premature submit.

Depends on what kind of fishing you're gonna be doing and where at.

If you wanna do other redneck things like frogging and duck hunting though, and are more interested in reds than trout, gator tail may be the ticket for you.

Large Bass Boat. Can handle inside salt or large reservoirs and still fit on small lakes and canals. I've owned 17' Aluminum Bass boat, 22' Bay Boat and 19' fiberglass bass boat. Fiberglas Bass boat is my favorite by far even when fishing for reds.

Redfish machine right there though. build you a removable light setup too and its a bowfishing machine too

What do you need duals for? Waste of money IMO unless your constantly pushing heavy loads. I saw that exact rig at GatorTail a couple of months ago and it's BIG and fine.

If you are bit by the trout bug, get a bayboat. If Reds are your thing, gatortail or one of the other brands.

That's a 30k dollar boat.

I've had 2 gator tails. Awesome boats! But when I get another boat, it will be a 17 foot fiberglass flats boat

How much money do you want to spend?

My suggestions as far as a versatile setup:

If you have some extra cash get you a hanko. I assure you that you won't regret if.

If you want a fiberglass boat then browse through thehulltruth.com and get a used lakes and bay boat. Very nice verstile boat that can get skinny or make or out in the bays no problems.

Agreed.
You not going to take a mudmotor to coastal lakes to catch trout in the summer. You can catch specs on the inside in the winter.

Keep going. I priced one out last year similar to that with a single. It was over 25k. Just couldn't justify spending that much on a lawnmower engine.

those twin motor gator tails are just plain awesome. That being said I'm sure that aluminum style hull would beat you to death in open water. For 30k you can get a pretty dang nice used boat.

I had a dual prodrive rig and I can bet you wouldn't get that rig for 30k. More like 35k plus

Had a buddy just but a gator tail single with all the fixing. Nice boat but higgggh dollar and it's def got it's pros and cons. It'll get you where you need
to go but it'll be one slow and very noisey ride.
