Secret Service director testimony omits elevator incident with Obama

So an armed convicted felon was allowed to be on an elevator, inches away from the President.

Testimony given by the director of the embattled U.S. Secret Service on Tuesday appears to conflict with the news that broke hours after Julia Pierson's testimony -- that a private security contractor with a gun shared an elevator with President Obama, in violation of protocol, during his trip to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta two weeks ago.
In her testimony before the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, Pierson said she is responsible for briefing the President whenever there is a serious breach of his or his family's security. When asked how many times she had to take such action in 2014, she said it was only after the September 19 incident in which a man armed with a knife jumped the White House fence and made it into the mansion's East Room.
How could intruder breach W.H. security?
Not long after the hearing adjourned, the Washington Examiner and then the Washington Post reported the incident in Atlanta on September 16.
An agency official confirmed the incident to CNN in which a security contractor operating an elevator at the CDC was carrying a gun in the presence of Obama and his Secret Service detail. The contractor was taking pictures of the President and otherwise behaving in an unprofessional manner, the official said. When the security worker was confronted about his behavior, it was revealed that he was armed.
Asked about the apparent inconsistency in Pierson's testimony, a spokesman for the Secret Service, Ed Donovan, told CNN "we aren't going to discuss private conversations the director may have with the President."
So an armed convicted felon was allowed to be on an elevator, inches away from the President.

And is security at the center for disease control. That's Even scarier.

Appeasement appointments have consequences. In this case this lady doesn't have the competence to do the job.

Having the necessary skills to do a job for the Government, particularly political appointments, has never been a prerequisite.

Disagree with your blanket statement. I've always felt relatively safe with previous administrations handling of national security for our country and personal security for our officials but I feel like this admin has gone too far with its kumbaya approach to security for political correctness. All three cable morning shows are ripping this woman very harshly this morning with very little politics being the excuse of her performance. One of the guys ripping her the harshest yesterday was a Democrat.

I'm not gonna say a woman couldn't handle this job, but I really would like to compare this woman's credentials to other candidates for her position.

Oh really? This was a PC appointment to make up for the Prostitution scandal (you know they one where male agents consorted with Prostitutes?)
What the President should have done was appoint the best qualified person. Male or female.
It's really shocking, where it's something that concerns the safety of himself or his family that his advisors didn't put more thought into it.

...this can be said about most of Obama's appointments.

Secret Service has gotten complacent.
Thanks Bush.
It began there. TWO SHOES!!! GWB was in Iraq I believe. When that crazy bastard threw not one but two shoes at the President before an agent comes into frame. Everyone laughed at Bushs evasive moves. I did not. A black President was about to come into office. I believe Obama had been elected at the time of this incident. They needed to tighten shite up and apparently did NOT.

See.
Two shoes before that guy staggers in. Should have been flying across the screen to take the second shoe like Clint Eastwood in In The Line of Fire.

Just heard on MSNBC Elijah Cummings calling for her resignation yet Josh Earnest says the president has complete confidence in her and she is more than qualified for the job.
The Pied Piper is losing his rats it appears.

Which is pretty much the job description for everybody in the Obama administration, including the President.

Not that the Director of the Secret Service is personally responsible for who gets in an elevator with the President. The Secret Service was having issues long before she got the job. Personally I bet these things happened all the time, we are just hearing about them more nowadays.

Well then, just who in the hell is? Why are you defending incompetence from the head of a department? There's no politics involved here concerning her mishandling of her job. She does the hiring and firing does she not?
