FCC unanimously votes to repeal blackout rule

I wonder if this will have any effect on the MLB's blackout policy. Would love to get myself an MLB package to watch the Braves every year but can't b/c Alabama is in the blackout market.

i think blackouts in areas with taxpayer funded stadiums is horse shite.

Mississippi, too. I would have paid for it the past two seasons, but was in the blackout area.
Hell, I'd buy NHL GameCenter and watch Preds games if it wasn't blacked out.

This rule, combined with the Coliseum's then-100k capacity, is the biggest reason why the NFL left Los Angeles.

if an owner builds the thing on his own dime and pays property taxes, ok, he can have black outs.

it should be noted that they can still do these blackouts, they just can't do it and point the finger at the FCC any more.
