My dad has a 2006 bb-ams4 cart. I am trying to locate a service manual for it. We just changed out the batteries and it still isn't getting power to the controller. I searched all over online and can't find anywhere to purchase a manual or parts list. Anyone got any ideas?

Have you tried calling them direct and asking for a service/parts manual???

I know when I have problems with equipment at work usually a call to the manufacturer with a serial number will get you what you need.

I had a 2006 BBB. I sold it 2-3 years ago, but I still have a copy of the owner's manual (not a service manual) in our files.

If you can post your email address, I'll be glad to scan it and send you a pdf file.

I'll warn you in advance, BBB didn't publish much of an owner's manual. It's only 10-12 pages long, and it's very rudimentary. IIRC It discusses routine maintenance and warranty stuff, but not a whole lot more.

I saw your post after I replied to Coot/DogKilla-- BBB was acquired by E-Z-Go 2-3 years ago. BBB had so many problems back then (huge recall for defective throttle assembly), that E-Z-Go might be leery of providing info for do-it-yourself repairs.

You going to use this thing to run over any dogs?

Ched: He promised me exclusive distribution rights for the video. I'm expecting footage of high speed chases before he runs over them.

CootKilla:I left the office before I saw your email address. I'll send you the pdf file as soon as I'm back (but this might be Thursday).

I suspect it could be the solenoids, especially if you have noticed either the front or rear wheels not pulling at times. One solenoid controls the front motor, and the other the rear. It isn't always apparent that one of the motors aren't pulling, so no one may have noticed. In my experience, the solenoids failing wouldn't be abnormal.

If it is the same model of pops (his is somewhere between 2005-2007, time has kind of ran together), there is a black plastic cover right behind the batteries/driver seat. If you remove that cover, you should be able to see 2 solenoids in each corner. If they are working, there will be a green light on. No green light means the solenoids are bad.

If all else fails, you can try Ben Nelson Golf & Utility in Pearl, MS. The old guy there was always really helpful with all our questions. We eventually had to let him work on it b/c the thing was/is a POS.

Whatever you determine to be the problem, if your cart hasn't been to a dealer for the recall, you need to do that.

After E-Z-Go bought BBB, they announced the recall. But they never tried to locate owners. So those who "hear" about it take theirs in for warranty recall work -- which consists of replacing the throttle assembly, and in some cases replacing the controller.

Thee problem with the BBB's was that the cart would suddenly "run away" at wide open throttle.

In my case I was in the cart with a client at a sporting clays tournament. We were going +/- 2 mph, and it suddenly went to full throttle. I can tell you from experience the brakes are no match for 31 hp. My next option was to turn off the key, which worked.

But other people report that turning off the key didn't work. Some reported their carts "ran away" while parked, unoccupied, with the key turned off.

Theses are the recall I'm talking about:
2010 BBB Recall
2009 Recall

ETA: I don't think these recalls have an "expiration date."

There have been even more recalls in the very recent past (2014) for "minor" stuff (steering nut. etc.) -- but the "throttle defect" can kill or maim people.

I can believe that. The headlights on pops BBB would turn on and off randomly, no matter the light switch/key position.

I just got a 2006 bad boy buggy. Do you still have a copy of the owners manual that you can send me?

Thanks!

Is there any chance I could get a PDF of your 2006 Badboy Buggy owner's manual. I just bought one and can't find anything on it. My e-mail is bustripper@yahoo.com. My name is Jeff and I sure would appreciate it.

Jeff:

Sure - I'll be glad to do that.

I'm self quarantined (working remote) due to the beer bug, but I'll call my office and get one of the secretaries to look for the owner's manual, scan it and email it to you. I'm not sure where they file stuff that's 14 years old (2006 BBB), but they will do a thorough search.

Good point. I simply copied and pasted the email address he listed, but didn't notice the period. I'll try again.

Looks like it went thru this time. Thanks.
