Can someone shed some light on when the best time to hit this open air seafood market? It looks sketchy as hell, or at least it did today when I drove past it.

Any time is good. Never really thought of it as "sketchy."

Lot of neck tats and white conversion vans. Don't get me wrong, I'm not hating, just wanted to capitalize on the best vendors/seafood. The shirtless people outnumbered the clothed people today, nothing in particular.

You should stop and buy shrimp from the shrimpers in the canal leaving Hopedale of you think they've got some skiddish wankers over there. I dealt with one a while back and only wanted ten pounds of shrimp. Ten pounds.

The dude was so drugged out that he filled up three ice chests of shrimp and said that'll be $20. I asked for ice and he had to throw some of the shrimp back into the canal to put ice on them, even after I told him numerous times not to fill up the ice chests. I didn't want to interrupt him being that I was not prepared to fight for my life at the time over some shrimp.

You must not know any commercial fishermen then, right? Those are some of the earthiest folks you'll ever meet.

Just be aware that they mix big shrimp into every Igloo so that all the shrimp on the top look big.

Up-towners used to their fancy things.

To the op, I've been there over a 100 times (used to deliver seafood there for a number of years) and have never seen anything bad happen there. Yea they have a few neck tats and a few young women walking around in skimpy clothes with really short shorts with rolled down shrimp boots but I seriously doubt they will do anything to you except try to sell you their shrimp or crabs(no pun intended).
