The real threat of Brandon Harris's legs

Many people think of dual-threat QBs as being better because of their ability to run. However I like Harris's speed for an entirely different reason. Due to his threat to scramble for big yards, defenses have to play with this in mind. They have to have a LB spy him or on short-intermediate routes, the DBs have to choose between covering the receiver or coming up to stop Harris from taking off when he gets outside the pocket. So even without having to run, just the threat to run makes it a lot easier for our elite WRs to get open and I expect Harris to sling it around with this in mind. He did it already this weekend where he started to run and then stopped to lob one into the end zone for a touchdown after the DB left Malachi slightly open to come stop Harris, and I'm excited to see this against Auburn.

That really was a beautiful play. Dupre can't be beat on the fade Harris throws.

I pray he stays healthy being a scrambling QB. Those types of QBs have a tendancy to take a lot of hits. Dont know if his body can handle that

I know i don't want the QB to take hit- only if its in the pocket but not running the ball let LF7 do that.

He hits that perfect zone where the ball just barely crosses the plane about 10 ft in the air.

That was my favorite play from him Saturday night. The play broke down, he was rolling out to his left, kept his eyes downfield and was patient with the ball, then threw an absolute strike to Malachi Dupre in the left side of the end zone. And by absolute strike, I mean literally a perfect pass. The DB was playing on Dupres inside hip and was in good position and coverage, and Harris threw the ball to Dupres outside shoulder and high enough to where Dupre was the only guy that would get to the ball.
Really a GREAT pass. And even though he has plenty of speed and ability to run, I love that he scrambled outside the pocket and still kept his eyes downfield looking for the pass instead of just tucking and running.

Defender pulled Chark's arm down when the ball came in, was still a perfect throw that the DB made a good play on.

Agree with your point…although
I wouldn't call that a lob…he threw that ball off balance against the grain and it was still a rope…dude has all the intangibles

His combination or arm strength and ability to move is a dynamite package. He will be great here at LSU if he is given the time and reps it takes for him to grow. Don't expect a 300 yard gem with 3 td's. Hope for execution and helping put us in a position to win. He isn't ready to carry the team on his shoulders but if the game plan and team around him do their part we can be successful this year and even more the next few years to come.

I just hope he is a Russel Wilson type runner and not a RG3 type. He needs to get down and get out of bounds to avoid too much punishment. 190 pounds is too small to take big, unnecessary hits.

Agree! All of his touchdown throws to Dupre have been closely contested balls that were absolute strikes! Chi was going to catch it or nobody was! All that talk about doing it against second stringers is garbage, those were absolute Dime throws regardless of who was covering.

His one completion in the ULM game was ridiculous, I had to rewind it to show my wife. Thing had some serious heat on it and his feet weren't on the ground.
