I have some cedar chairs, rustic cooler and a swing I want to stain. What do you guys recommend for outdoor treatment to preserve wood and maintain look of wood?

Stain a piece of wood what ever color you like. Then take it to a paint store and have them scan the color and mix it in a high quality exterior paint (ie major hall timeless) and paint..

Your exterior stain and polyurethane going to look like shite in a few years if its in sunlight

Stain it with whatever you want. Then finish it with several coats of Epifanes marine varnish to protect it.
