Whole bunch of meh if you ask me..

side by side with the Hero3+

What. The. frick.

quote:

As we mentioned, the battery door is now on the bottom of the Hero4 as opposed to the back, where it was on all previous models. This is likely to make room for the touchscreen on the Hero4 Silver. The problem is that this means the batteries have a different shape. In other words, if you're upgrading, your old batteries won't work in the new cams. They're only $20 a pop, so it's probably not a deal-breaker, but it's annoying.

FFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU

so battery life isn't going to be as good, but you are getting 4k picture, which roger is gonna fap about

i'm ruffled, y'all can read about it here..

Gizmodo- GoPro Hero4 Review

but wait... what's this?

The GoPro Hero

Confusingly named? Yes. But super affordable? Also yes. Coming in at just $130, it's hard to complain much about where the Hero comes up short. You get 1080p at 30fps or 720p at 60, you still get SuperView which is a pretty killer feature, and maybe best of all, you still get 131 feet of waterproofiness; even Sony's flagship camera only goes to 16 feet. Interestingly enough, though, it doesn't come with a waterproof case; it's built right into one. That's right, it's not removable. The micro SD card slot and mini-USB port are moved to the back to facilitate this. You can also swap in a skeleton backdoor to improve audio, assuming you won't be getting it wet.

We haven't personally had a chance to play with the Hero, but from some of the comparison shots that leaked last week you can see that the Hero's footage is decent, but it's certainly way behind the higher-end models. Maybe that's okay, though. Not everyone is as concerned with image quality. Some people just want a tough camera that they can stick anywhere and that will live through just about anything. If the Hero4 Black edition leans too far toward exclusivity, the Hero is the opposite. It's meant to be the democratization of action cameras. Maybe. Or maybe GoPro just had a ton of guts leftover from the Hero 3 White edition (which this camera is internally identical to) and needed to get rid of them.

Game. Changer.

Well I hope the hero3 black goes on super sale at costco. I waited for the hero4 to come out to get one.

I've been interested in the Sony Action Cam. It is so tiny.

Probably going to pick up a go pro for big duck season. Going to mount it on the dog harness and pray for crippled geese.

How bad exactly is the specs on that $130 one comparatively? I like the sound of that price. I can't spend $400 on a camera right now but I want one to mount to my speargun.

I have a hero 2 and it does everything I need it to do. I'd love a four but all the stuff for two I have would be useless as far as batteries and memory card. As for the hero for 130$ it's a damn good deal. It's similar to the hero 2. If I wanted a basic gopro I'd get the hero. All I do with mine is record hunts and some fishing. No need for 4k resolution.

And they are gonna make $$$ off that fact, a large majority of people want one for basic stuff, and that is what the hero is for, I just hate that I will still have to buy a shite ton of new batteries

It is essentially a new version of the GoPro Hero2 silver, so the specs are good, it is actually a really good deal and I'm probably gonna buy a couple

As far as batteries go i have off brand off Amazon with charger for 20$ last longer than gopro brand. If someone wants a good gopro I vote the hero for 130$ only cool thing about the 4 is the touchscreen on the back. But it's not 500$ cool

Wasabi? I've got like twenty of them

All of which will not work for the Hero4
