On 'Top Chef: New Orleans,' Justin Devillier of La Petite Grocery and the soon-to-open Balise proved he's a serious contender on the small screen. On Tuesday (Sept. 30) at 9 p.m., Devillier takes on another contender in Esquire Network's "Knife Fight."

Devillier will play against Michael Bryant of Los Angeles' The Churchill.

nola

Wish I had the Esquire channel as I enjoyed the free weekend that allowed me to watch Tory McPhale compete.

I think JD is better suited for a competition like this compared to Top Chef. He can go in and make a few great dishes without trying to "act" for the show. Not sure that's his strong suit.

Also, he better hope the Saints turn it around before he opens that new place at the "Ditch". Anyone hear when they are suppose to open?

I've got a few episodes to catch up on, including the one with a local St Louis guy. I really like this show.

The other guy. But home field advantage seemed to help.

I don't think Justin is made for time limited competitions. His hands were really shaking. The other guy's first dish won it for him along with the third, I believe. Not enough salt in a dish is a death knell. Fun to watch, though.

Yeah, I stopped taping it after watching Tory. Couldn't take it, but I like to see local chefs compete at anything.

It's so ridiculous and an embarrassment to every chef that "performs" on the show
