Do dogs recognize their own breed?

Or do they just see them as another dog? We are going to my Brother's today and they have 2 shih-tzus. We have a 9 month old shih tzu. Just wondering how well they are going to hit it off. Our puppy plays well with others but has never met her own breed yet.

They probably do, but just don't give a frick. Dogs care more about being happy and making others happy to be so petty as to care about breed.
