I used to be a fan of Reginelli's, good selection of premium toppings, sandwiches (dream state) were really good, salads were good, & the pasta was also good. Went there on game day last weekend, the place is now some sort of cafeteria style "fast food" pizza place. The menu has been depleted, no more premium toppings, sandwich selection is down to 2-3 none of those being the sandwiches that had premium toppings because they no longer have those options, the pasta, all 2 selections of it, looked like it came out of a boil & bag section at the grocery store, they changed the crust & the sauce, there is only one size pizza 18" for 21.00 with only 3-4 choices or you can build your own, & now they sell slices but they only give you 2-3 selections of slices. There is no longer table service, you walk in, place your order at the front counter & they bring it to you. So if you want to have a few beers, you have to order them all at one time or keep getting up to walk to the front, order, pay, then go sit back & wait for it. I asked if this was just a "game day" change but the girl at the counter said no, this location has gone to this style of dining.

that style of dining probably fits in best with the "grab and go" college lunch crowd.s

Sorry I just scanned over it. I just looked at it online and sure enough they changed it up. Don't know why. I guess college kids weren't ordering too much of the more complicated stuff and they could shed some costs. Glad they waited til after I left. I would be pissed if they nixed the Dream State.

I was disappointed to see the changes. It was kind of a go-to lunch spot when I was grabbing a meal with my daughter at LSU. We saw that our usual items were no longer on the menu and talked with the hostess. She appologized for the changes, but we still decided to go elsewhere. I will continue to have them deliver pizza for office meetings, but will not likely go back for a sit-down meal.

Students probably weren't willing to pay for overpriced mediocre pizza. They can get a Hot n Ready for 5 bucks around the corner and buy a case of beer with the extra 16 dollars they have left.

Newks is supposed to be opening up down the street too. I give Reginelli's less than a year once they open.

If you miss their sandwiches, try Bacio di Roma next door. MUCH better ingredients and tastes a lot better.

Hard to compete in that area now.

Chimes, chipotle, 5 guys, ingas, bww, pita pit, the chinese place, rauls, canes, subway, and a few others

reginellis wasnt the cheapest option around there and they didnt have a parking lot to park in.

Ate at Reginelli's twice with the last time being in june. Had the worst calzone I've ever had in my life. The other time I had there pizza and wasn't a fan because of the chunky tomatoe sauce.

It's a gelato and panini place right next door on Chimes Street. The gelato is legit and is better than even the stuff I had in Rome (the owner had run one of the more renowned Gelato shops in Rome prior to moving to the U.S.). Try the chocolate, it's like an orgasm in your mouth...in a good way...

The sandwiches are good too.

Thanks for the info. I'm in the area a lot. I'll have to give it a shot.

You won't be disappointed. I'm still looking forward to the opening of Barcadia in that area, if it ever happens. At least it looked like some progress was being made the last time I rode by there.

Also looking forward to the opening of that Butcher shop on Acadian near Government, the new City Pork on Jefferson near Town Center, and the new Anthony's on Government.

Thanks for the info. My mom has been whining about gelato since she left Italy after vacation last summer.

They kept the Uptowner, so I'm okay PHEW!

But on the rare occasion I crave it, I go to the Jefferson/Government location.

Is that just a second location for the current city pork?

Yes. Supposed to have a slightly different concept.

I think it will be more of a dine in with more seating, but I could be wrong. I was really disappointing when Dempsey's left, but a second City Pork close to my SO's house helped to soften the blow.
