Why can't we simplify our pass offense to help our young QB's?

I believe the coaches could do a better job of allowing AJ or BH more success with a passing offense that

1. Doesn't take forever to develop
2. Doesn't require receivers having to run 15+ yards down the field
3. Allows AJ or BH to move by running sprint-outs, giving them the option to pass or run but also limiting their reads; also preventing them from being a sitting target.....
4. Run more bunch sets to help create favorable match-ups
5. Utilize our tight ends!!!

I know its just my opinion, but it seems like we ask too much from our passing when it doesn't need to be that way. Even a short, side-line to side-line passing game would help break up the "stacked box" we face from every opponent.

Maybe it's just me......

Did that against MSU and Jennings threw to the covered TE instead of the wide open FB.

I'm not sure it can get any more simple.

It already is basic and simple.

Simple is putting them in shotgun with easy reads and if not there take off. Use their athleticism. It's really not that hard. MSU doesn't have a complicated scheme with Prescott. The spread out offense is actually less complicated. That's why almost every high school offense runs it.

I think part of what you're seeing here is that AJ doesn't make quick decisions, in general.

Ditto. Harris seems better in this department. He is more instinctive about knowing when to tuck and run.

They kinda suck. Dickson is our best receiving threat and he has like 2 catches for 12 yards and a fumble. When Smith gets targeted he is drop prone.

Because AJ can't throw simple slant and flat routes. Where have you been since the beginning of the year? It's why they have to commit to the run.

We can, and I'm sure it's simple reads right now. Most of our passes are outside the numbers or to the boundary...resulting in very few passes to slot receivers and TEs.

Very good point. AJ lacks accuracy on the short passes.

How much more simplified does it need to be in order to be completely ineffective? We don't use a lot of formations, and we don't ask our QBs to do much in the passing game. They basically have a primary read, and if it's not there, the play breaks down. We can't even complete a basic screen or pass to a TE.

Do you think we do a good job of creating favorable matchups? I don't know if we do.....

Wrong channel!

Kidding. But seriously, the lack of offensive production is not anyone's fault but the QBs. Most of the passes that get completed are busted plays. I know there have a been a FEW drops, but too many overthrown slant routes by 10 yards. I just posted this in another thread. When Les had a competent QB in 2007 he won a NC. Then we went through a dry spell with JJ/JL. 2013 we have a NFL QB who sets SEC records. Pattern.

I don't think we've given our RBs a shot in hell to be successful this year. I'm not a fan of how we allocate carries, and I think we do a poor job of getting these guys into space. We have issues on the interior of the line, but it seems like we run right into the teeth of the defense more often than not.

I think we create favorable matchups in the passing game. I really like our WR talent and am confident that all four guys (Dural, Diarse, Dupre and Quinn) can get open and make plays. If you rewatch the games you'll see guys open in every game, but Jennings can't find them. As far as I'm concerned, our WRs have an advantage over every team's DBs on our schedule. We just have to get the ball to the open guy.

I think running more shotgun with three wide helps us tremendously. It gives Jennings/Harris more time to process the defense and make a decision. I'd like to see whoever the QB is focus on the intermediate routes instead of trying to bomb it 40 yards. We need to establish a rhythm and build confidence between our QB and WRs.

Watching A&M operate on offense is a thing of beauty. I like that we run the ball more than pass, but I'd like that gap to close so we can be more balanced. A&M does a great job of putting Hill in the shotgun and getting the ball out of his hands quickly. A&M's biggest advantage is their WR talent, but their WRs aren't better than ours. They just get the ball to them in space.

They definitely could make it simpler.

Look at what Kiffin did with Sims.

shite tons of bubble screens and easy short passes.

Jennings is stuck on going deep every play.

Because he locks on to one receiver. There are guys running open all over the field. He never looks at anyone else. Whatever is his read out of the huddle, that is who he is throwing to. Multiple pundits have said this also.
