Buying a knife - help

It will be as a gift. Went hunting with my friend and his Dad last year, killed a pig and was cleaning it and his dad let me use his knife. Great Case knife and told him how much I liked it. He ended up giving it to me and wouldn't accept anythig in return. Well this year they are coming hunting with me and my Dad and I would like to give him a knife.
Want to get him a folding knife, 3-4inch blade, and have that black carbon / titanium nitrate finish on it. Willing to spend $100 on it but would like to try and keep it between $50-$80.
Looked at a few, but curious on some of yalls opinions.
Ka Bar mule
SOG Trident
Kershaw Blur
SOG Zoom
Those are the ones I'm interested in now. Any other good ones out there? TIA

Spend a little more and get a mini grip

Get him another Case. Don't be a jerk and replace his perfect knife with something else. Take it and have his name engraved on it.
I got a good friend a nice bone handle trapper, and had his name and a Bible verse engraved on it for about $20.
Edit for clarification: The engraving was $20. Knife was $70 or so.

of those the Kershaw is the only one not Aus8 stainless.
Spend a little time and look a the properties of different blade metals. Each has different properties and there is likely a good mix for the intended uses.
Consider what the use will be also. Everyday carry the combo blades with some serration are nice. For skinning or other fine work most don't like the serrations.
Those with Chromium in the blade will have more corrosion resistance.

Wtf....
Oh and he said he wasn't a big fan of that case knife because it was a fixed blade and he typically uses and carries a folding knife. And he already has a case folding knife.

Mini Grip is the only answer if you don't want to get him a comparable case folder.

This. Of the two serrated knives you posted neither were tanto. Keep looking.

A Benchmade Mini-Grip with the coated blade will run you $102. I don't personally think they're a great value anymore since Benchmade really starting enforcing MAP pricing... But they're good knives, and I love the Axis lock.
Plenty of people on this board seem to absolutely love Case knives, probably because they do have a timeless look. If you want to go this route, they make PLENTY of folding knives. Knifeworks is a Louisiana company, and they're great people.
Here is the Case folding knife section...

IMHO, Spyderco is easily the best value for your money. However, most of their knives definitely do not have the traditional look.

KR just threw his iPhone.
A tanto blade is very useful if you like to stab people.

Not trying to stab people haha... Not on my knife game.

Those charts are a bit off. I know S90V's corrosion resistance is at least as good as 440C's and 440C's is better than 154CM's.
