Those charts are wrong on a few things actually. The stated wear resistance of S30V vs 154 CM in that middle chart is wrong, S30V is higher and that's according to Crucible. S90V has better corrosion resistance than 440C in some tests and is about equal in others. Don't know who made those charts but they don't jive with published specs.

I have a S90V Benchmade, several S30V knives, plenty of 154CM, and a few in 440C that have never had a problem with corrosion. Blade finish plays a role there as my Microtech 154CM knife will develop a little rust on a humid day without some oil on the blade. Never had that issue with a high polish 440C blade. I'd say the S90V is better than the S30V for what the average EDC pocket knife is going to see. Incredible edge retention.

I have tried sharpening a S90V knife twice. Key word tried.

IMHO, S30V is the best steel used in knives today. It is a little hard to sharpen, but the best all around. Actually just got my Paramilitary back from Spyderco last week. They tuned it up, cleaned everything, and sharpened it all for the price of shipping ($8 there and back). Turn around time was 2 weeks

S90V needs a waterstone. I have a Shapton 15K I put my S90V to and it polished right up. Not as quickly as the Manix XL but it worked where the 6K belt barely phased it.

I second the recommendations on the mini-grip - if the profile is right. Really, anything axis from BM - I'm starting to get sold on 154CM - I have a Nimravus fixed blade and a Presidio folder.

Take to war knives (I did just that.)

No sir.

OP, you were smart to get the cerakoted blade too. It will have very good corrosion resistance.

Smith and Wesson Black Ops 4

Normally $60 I paid $19.99 on Woot and it's been awesome. I've used it for everything and love it. I think it's as low as $40 on bladhq
