I always liked the Kershaw Splinter with Quince wood. It would make a nice gift.

Best pocket knife steel I have ever owned was S30V(5 different knives). IIRC, there is a newer S35V that I haven't seen, but it is supposed to be better. I wouldn't own a 440c knife because I have seen them rust from being worn in a pocket and they don't hold an edge for shite. 154CM is the better of the two

That's about $25 more than you should be paying for that CRKT Fossil. You guys need to check three places first when buying a knife... Cutleryshoppe ("nutnfancy" free shipping code), Knifeworks, and Amazon.

KG,
Congrats to you for being so thoughtful. You've already had a lot of good recs and will get some more. Having said that, I guess since I'm a "traditionalist" I'll rec a version of Buck model 110 Folding Hunter. I've got one w/ the metal finish as you described. I don't use it as much as I'd like too, but I cherish it becuase my family gave it to me. This particular Buck doesn't have the finish you want, but I bet there's one out there that does (I just didn't look very long.)

Knew about benchmade knives, but wasn't familiar with them. After you mentioned them and some other people agreed I did some research on them and like everything about them. High quality knife that looks great as well. And it's def not a cheap blade, but not crazy $$$. I dont mind paying a bit more for a quality product. Thanks Bama and beer

I might ask for a new benchmade for Christmas

I have the full griptilian, have had it for about 10 years and still love it

Yea I actually ordered myself the full grip and not the mini grip only like $15 more.

Am a little worried it might be too big, considering its a little bigger than 8inches with the blade out. Comfortable in the hands and in pocket?

It's not my everyday carry because IMO it's a little heavy

I carry it the the most when I'm at the camp and has cleaned a many of deer

Gotcha.

Don't really carry a knife that often anyways and it'll mostly be when I'm in the woods.

Thanks man

Kershaw Blur or Leek. I've carried a Griptilian and a Delica 4 but surprisingly I like the Kershaws better than either. The blade steel is better on the Spyderco and the Benchmade but I like the assisted opening on the Kershaws better.

The lifetime warranty really makes it worth it IMO. Very high quality steel and a sturdy blade backed by a great American company.

By the way, your AVI is a damn bombshell. I'm distracted every time I read your posts.
