I've never been a smoker, but some of my good friends are smokers. I guess because I've never smoked, I've never really understood the reason people smoke cigarettes. What is it that makes it so addictive? I mean, obviously it's the tobacco, but for you guys who smoke, what is it about cigarettes that makes you keep wanting them more and more, despite the risks (lung cancer, heart disease, etc.). I'm not condemning you guys or anything, just curious about your perspective.

I like the way it looks. If I see someone smoking a cig, I know that guy is a BAF.

I remember some of his early Saints Talk threads, and I do believe this is serious.

Its not addictive to everyone. I occasionally smoke cigarettes. Probably about half a pack a month. Every once in a while i will go on a binge a smoke a half a pack in a weekend.

I'm the exact same way. We're just wired differently? Because I had at least half a pack Saturday for the game and I haven't had one since nor do I want one.

I've been off and on with cigs and dip for 15 years. I've never been a heavy smoker. I usually smoke about a pack every week and a half when I'm in full blown relapse mode. I don't know what it is but god damn a cig or dip is the best after a long day and dinner.

This. I'll smoke 6-8 (individuals, not packs) a month sometimes, then I'll go 2-3 months without smoking any.

Dip on the other hand... not as easy for me stay away from.

To put it simply, it's something to do to pass the time. Once you are addicted you start to feel a little anxious if you've been a while without a cigarette. There are times that you come to associate with cigarettes that you feel are better accentuated accompanied with a cigarette e.g. with coffee, with beer, after a filling meal, on a drive, etc.

Lol lighter345, I'm not as stupid as I come across. A little naive' maybe, but not stupid. Maybe it's the way I present my threads that creates confusion. Obviously yeah, it's the nicotine that's addictive, but more than that, what other factors are there ya know?

So yeah, my threads may not always be the most well-thought out ones, but hey, it is what it is lol.

I'm extremely, extremely high strung. Smoking helps me deal. In some ways, it also helps me focus when I need to.
I despise myself for smoking and desperately want to quit. But, idk how to do it without freaking out. I have tried everything to break it. I'm hoping to do it before the end of the year.
