One that is cheaper on the pocket book too. I found a diamond razor edge. Anyone familiar p? Any review I read listed them as a youth bow.

I started this year with a PSE Prophecy. Very satisfied with it.

They key is to make a budget and shoot some in that range. I was hellbent on getting a Diamond Carbon Cure- it wasn't near the bow the PSE was when I shot them side by side.

I started out a few years ago with a PSE Brute and it's a great bow. Like subMOA said, I went intent on buying somethibg wlse but settled on the PSE after shooting it.

I'm looking into it too, but I'm wanting a wooden recurve or English longbow. No compound for me. Any advice from the group? Was looking at a wooden recurve for around $198 from PSE. Not sure on the model, is PSE a decent brand?. Which of the two types would you fellas advise? Draw weight? Does advised draw weight differ with the type of bow?

Will be using for some hunting, not a ton, deer would be the largest game I would be after. Probably more target shooting, just for the fun of it.

I bought a Greatree deerslayer, which is the exact same bow as the PSE blackhawk. PSE is an ok brand for a starter bow, but most people probably start with a sage. Definitely drop the poundage from a compound. I can shoot my 60# compound all day, but my accuracy drops quickly when shooting my 45# recurve. Since you want to hunt deer, I'd recommend starting with a bow between 40-45#. Draw weight also depends on your length. The listed weight is at 28 inches. You can add or subtract a few pounds per inch either way. I have a 29 inch draw, so I'm probably pulling about 47#.

Oh you know a couple grand...haha im kidding something in the $3-400 dollar range. I have been looking used and came across a few bows I like. I just don't know much about them as this will be my first compound bow. I see some listed as a youth/beginner bow. Should I go this route? When i hear youth I feel like im going hunting with a .22 or some shite.

I also started with a PSE Brute. Very affordable bow and shot great. Once i upgraded, i gave it to my cousin and he still uses it.

For your first time I would actually go to an archery pro shop and have them help you. Im just getting started and wish I would have.

Bought online and was set up horribly. Told it was 29/65. Ended up with a 28/52. I was able to adjust but still a pain. Had I gone to the shop it would have been set up including the sight before I left.

Check in to bear and bowtech entry bows. Or if you get used check out archery talk

This 100%. I lucked up and was able to have one of the PSE pro staff guys set me up. It makes all the difference in the world getting a few pointers from someone who knows what they are doing.
