Why is everyone so worried about QB play after tonight?

Did some of you even watch the game or did you just look at stat lines? 85% of our offense was power I sets with 2 TEs and only 1 WR. Of course Jennings isn't going to be a world beater with these sets. It was quite obvious that we didn't want to blast ULM out of Baton Rouge, so what did the coaching staff do? Run the ball all game long. Jennings will be just fine, people just need to take a huge deep breath, and enjoy this team, because they are very fun to watch. Defense is an unreal machine that could be the fastest defense we have ever had.

They run a spread attack Sabi. I'm all for it myself, I think LSUs offense should be a wide open spread attack myself, but I don't think Les wants that.

To me, his progression abilities seem to be lacking. In fairness, he didn't have much time, but he still seems to get nervous anytime his first option is covered.

I put it in quotes because I was poking fun at other posters who were freaking out over it.

I don't know about you, but 3 yard runs aren't fun to watch.

I was specifically talking about the defense, maybe it didn't come out that way, but I enjoy watching these running backs as well. This week was about the gameplan, we did the same thing last year a few times, the offense will open up again.

And I gotcha Sabi

I think more mixed attack would suit the talent on offense very well. I don't think an all out wide open spread attack is what we need though.

People tend to fall in love with the open spread offenses but their inability to utilize power run formations, are their biggest downfall. Take Texas A&M for example. They look great when they can spread defenses out & find the mismatches against opposing defenses nickel & dime corners but when they can't, they struggle. Why? Because they have no balance. Also their identity isn't lining up in power formations so they would struggle trying to do something out of the norm for them.

I'm all for a mixture of spread & power but I would never want to see a LSU offense go completely all out spread.

I watched the game and agree that the game plan was basic. I'm ok with that and understand if this is what the coaching staff was doing. No need to show everything to everybody when we win without it.

But our OL should have been better and there is simply no getting around that. QB doesn't have time to throw and is scrambling all over the place. A vanilla game plan could have been implemented buy CLM but not a weak OL. That has me worried going forward. But we will know in the coming weeks.

Defense is lights out and will help us through this year. We showed we could adjust against one of the best backs in the country and we shut down SHSU's playmakers as well as ULM's.

Next week we'll come out with 4 wide sets. State wouldn't know how to gameplan without film
