The more carries Fournette gets, the better off we will be.

Agree. Jennings wasn't a world beater tonight. But who cares? We had nothing to prove. We were just wanting to win and not have to strain ourselves. Just run the clock out. No problems. No worries.

How can you worry about a QB when we ran 1 WR power I sets all night long? If you people didn't notice we didn't open the book at all tonight.

the company line after every lackluster offensive showing against a cupcake in the Miles era.

This. There were lots of I formation one receiver sets tonight. Most had only one or two receivers available on the play. (1 WR and/or back/TE) The offense was vanilla as you can get.

This does not explain the offensive line play. We had no push. Smaller and supposedly less talented OL are putting it to us.

Even though the offensive game plan was vanilla, this should have been a better showing for the offensive line. My only guess is that some of the shuffling of players hasn't allowed the group to gel as a whole.

He's a special player, without a doubt.

This is always how LSU plays overmatched opponents, that's why last week was so surprising. We didn't realize at the time just how shitty SHSU is this year. I can't wait until they line Williams up at FB on 3rd and 1 and then pitch it to Fournette who takes it all the way.

And not to mention, ULM was loading the box...

Negative batman. Miles doesn't care about style points. We need to work on running the ball... Even against 8 and 9 man fronts with the D knowing we are coming. Our QB and WRs are so young we need to get the running game ramped up. Ohio St would've killed for our O last week.

As it should be against ULM.

Gonna be a fun season this year and Really really fun next year and 2016. We are loaded, set, and ready to roll IMO.

1 WR sets with a FB blocking = Box with 9 or sometimes 10 defenders in it all of whom are attacking the ball carrier. 8 guys cannot block 9 or 10. I don't care if their playing a high school team, these numbers don't add up to big gains. It is effective in wearing a defense out and controlling the second half of the game which is all that needed to be done tonight. Might as well get used to this approach from miles in every game, even the big ones. At some point this will prove ineffective when we fall behind to a team that can score on us. The good news is that we've already shown that we are willing and able to adjust in game, spread a defense out, and move the ball more swiftly when this happens. See Wisconsin game. Our o line is fine. Our qb is good enough and IMO getting better. Our defense is really good. Relax and enjoy the season. Big boy football starts this coming week.

Something bothers me about how we approach these cupcake games from the offensive side of the ball. Running the ball is obviously the cornerstone of any LM coached team. This is especially true with our offense this year with young QB play. We know we will run the ball. We know we can run the ball.

Seems to me in these games it would be more to our long term benefit to open it up and throw the ball more to allow the receivers (other than Dural) and QB to get comfortable in live game action. That way when we start SEC play it wouldn't be such a trial by fire. We should try to build familiarity in our passing game when we play cupcakes. Jennings was 11-18 for 139 yards. Harris was 1-2 for 14 yards.

Always happy with a win. Always looking for improvement.

I had no problem with the game plan tonight nor should anyone else.

I think we saw tonight the benefit of having a former pro offensive coordinator calling the plays. Cam basically treated tonight's game like a NFL preseason game. There was no need to give other SEC opponents film to go off of just yet. I did like the fact that he has shown the FB dive play with Fournette in the game though. That just gives defenses something else to worry about out of I formation. It also taking advantage of the depth at RB.

So last weekend was lackluster? And by the way if you haven't noticed ALL teams do the exact same thing unless your Baylor or Oregon. Miles knows win the game get experience and don't give your next opponent any film. Same thing as Wisconsin game. We basically beat a top 15 team by running I formation dives for 4 quarters. Who gives two shits how much we beat a team by. They took margin of victory out of the equation 15 years ago. But I know you college OC's realize this........Jesus the ignorance people type is jaw dropping sometimes on this board.
