Looking at a new personal computer and this seems like a great fit for computer and flexs as a tablet. Thoughts?

This is the most thorough and accurate and well-thought review of the Surface Pro 3. Worth the watch for something on which you're gonna spent upwards of a grand: LINK

My clients are loving them. Nothing buy great reviews. Light, can be a tablet, runs all their business apps, etc.. Docking station is pretty cool too.

One of the things mentioned in the review is the absurdity of it not coming with a keyboard. I didn't know that, and I would agree it's absurd. They're marketed as the perfect PC/tablet hybrid solution. The keyboard is what would sell it for me. Next time I am in the market for a new mobile computing device, it's going to have a keyboard and trackpad.

I have the original surface and I'm attached at the hip to hit. I haven't used my PC since I've gotten this.

Steam in-home streaming on this is badass

Geez, are you serious? Do you realize some people like it without the keyvoard? Buy the keyboard and you have the best product on the market. I swear to God you will use it plenty without the keyboard attached. They are awesome.

It is dumb for MS to advertise this as the next laptop and not include the keyboard. Fortunately mine came with one.

Only times my keyboard isn't attached is when I'm on the crapper or taking handwritten notes with the pen.

I use the pen far more often then the trackpad. Its god awful on the first gen keyboard

It should come with a keyboard, or it should be advertised as a powerful tablet.

EDIT: But as it stands, I do plan on my next laptop purchase being whatever gen of surface pro is out. But that may not be for another year or more.

I had the original and absolutely loved it. I used it as my everyday computer. Unfortunately it was stolen on Monday though. Insurance is supposed to cover the price of a Surface 3, so I plan on getting one in the next few weeks.

Love my Surface Pro 3. It will run basically anything that will run on Windows 8.1, including apps one would never expect on a tablet. Great for client demos, and since it runs on a SSD everything runs blazingly fast. As I've said elsewhere on this board, I host an Oracle Enterprise database on my Surface 3 for demo work and get great results.

That said, it is still a tablet, not a server. So the form factor is smaller, and while yes you can run just about anything don't plan to store terabytes of data on it. But that isn't what it's for.
