HEADQUARTERS NEWS RELEASE
September 10, 2014

Suspect Sought in Sporting Goods Store Gun Theft

Jackson – Louisiana State Police Detectives, the East Feliciana Parish Sheriff’s Office and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (ATF) are asking for assistance from the public in helping to locate an individual responsible for the burglary of a sporting goods store which occurred in East Feliciana Parish.

Early in the morning of September 10, 2014, an unidentified man broke into the Thompson Creek Sporting Goods store located on LA Hwy 10 in Jackson. The suspect was seen on surveillance footage placing several guns into a bag. The suspect left the store for a brief period, then returned and loaded several more guns into the bag before leaving again.

The attached surveillance video and photos show the suspect as he is walking through the sporting goods store. He is described as a light skinned black male with a thin build and approximately 6 feet tall. The suspect has a tattoo on his left outside forearm (possibly writing in the shape of a cross), one on his right inside forearm, and one on his right bicep (possibly cursive writing). At the time of the burglary he was wearing a tank top with “LOVE” printed on the front, a necklace with a cross on it, a “boonie” hat, a dark wristwatch on his left arm, and what appears to be “Mechanix Wear” gloves.

If you have any information about this suspect please contact the East Feliciana Parish Sheriff’s Office at 225-683-5459, Louisiana State Police Detectives at 225-925-6006, or your local law enforcement agency.

Hmm. Must not have had an alarm on for him to walk through and then come back and get more. You can be through the entire town of Jackson in 5 minutes from the intersection of Hwy 68 to Thompson Creek Bridge on Hwy 10. Surely the Jackson PD would have been able to make it there in time. Not sure where the store is since it didn't exist when I was growing up.

Its a small store next to the dry cleaners. Guy carries a few guns. I've been going up there for years to hunt and over the past few years, we've stopped in to get things here or there. I know my cousin has gotten them to track down rare ammo and guns for him. Really nice guy. Hope they catch this POS.

Cant recall ever hearing about a gun store robbery. Would think with ATF involved the penalty would be pretty steep.

I've been in there one time. There were about 6 DCI employees sitting around the counter all open carrying pistols. The guy was showing off some custom guns and they had a nice little circle jerk going. I made it a point as I "browsed" to stand behind each person towards their gun side and see if they made an effort to shield it away from the stranger. Only one guy swiveled in his chair moving his gun away from my reach. The rest were oblivious to me being behind them.

I have heard the guy that runs the store has some great deals and is very helpful
