There were a few surprise games from week 1 with the Bills beating the Bears, Dolphins beating the Pats, Titans beating Chiefs.

So... which surprise team impressed you the most in week 1?

For me, it was the Titans. On both sides of the ball as well.

Locker played some really good ball when he was healthy last year, and looked improved in week 1 and played very well and against a very good D. 22/33 266yards, 2 TDs, 0 INTs with a passer rating of 111.4. 8 diff players caught passed from Locker and he did an outstanding job at spreading it around to keep the D on their toes, but he knew where his top pass catchers were and made sure they got the looks they needed (Wright, Hunter, Walker). They were also very balanced on offense, rushing 38times for 162yards against a stout D. Greene had 15carries for 71yards and was a solid lead RB, and loved seeing McCluster sprinkled in both the run and pass game as well. Whisenhunt is playing to their strengths and keeping them balanced. Because they do have a good bit of talent at the skill positions and a solid OL.

Defensively, they completely shut down Jamaal Charles and the Chiefs rushing attack and turned them into a 1 dimensional offense. Holding Charles to 7 carries for 19years is extremely hard to do. And the Titans did it in convincing fashion. They have a lot of talent on the DL and at the LB spot and look solid in the secondary. A lot of people were worried about the CB spot after losing Verner, but I thought the Titans looked solid back there and had 3 INTs . Yea it was agains the Chiefs and they dont have a dynamic passing attack, but they still looked good. But I was very impressed with their front 7, specifically Woodyard, Casey, and Derrick Morgan.

Titans have a lot of talent... just need stability at the coaching staff (which I think they will get with Whisenhunt) and the most important position on the field, QB, to stay healthy. Hopefully Locker does stay healthy because he gets bashed a lot but is a damn solid QB when hes healthy, though they do have a Mett behind him and looked really good in preseason. Eitherway, i think the Titans are in for a good year.

as a Titans fan, it was the Titans.

our D was awful in the preseason but looked great against KC. I know that they don't have an explosive offense outside of Charles, but to completely shut him and the entire offense down made me very happy.

Titans, Jags, Minnesota. Also Stafford may have taken the next step.

Miami's play on defense surprised me. I'm still curious about how that offense will develop.

Tennessee impressed me as well.

On offense, it really looked like Jake was comfortable with a lot of it already. He spread the ball around really well. I was surprised to see that Whisenhunt kept him in the pocket the entire game. It was the first game in his career that he didn't attempt a pass outside of the pocket.

The run game was very consistent as well, which was good to see. Chris Johnson had so many negative yardage plays that would constantly put the offense in 3rd and long situations. It made a huge difference having a lot of 3rd and manageable situations against the Chiefs.

The defense shocked me. They were horrible during the preseason and Horton thought it wouldn't be until week 4 or 5 until you saw things gelling on the defensive side of the ball. That would be big for the Titans to have that process sped up a few weeks.

On another note, their schedule is very friendly. I can definitely see them winning the south over the Colts this year.

As a Titans fan, I was really really excited Sunday afternoon but I've come back down a bit and will try to remain cautiously optimistic.

There were things they did very well:
- Spread the ball around to what's an underrated set of skill players on offense
- Stretching the field with Justin Hunter
- Pound the ball late and salted the game away
- Pressure upfront on D. Pitoitua and Hill were fantastic in the middle.
- McCourty played lights-out with 2INTs and had blanket coverage all day on Avery

Improvements:
- Cut down on the penalties, especially on offense. Goodness gracious, the holding calls... 12/13 penalties will cost us games down the road.
- Run the ball better in first half. We didn't run that well until Johnson and their NT got injured. The pass really opened up the run, which we might not be able to rely on week-in and week-out.
- Not an improvement, but that KC o-line is not that good. Our D-line really feasted on them. I'll hold my excitement until we can get consistent pressure and stuff the run against a good, cohesive offensive line.
- Let's see how the secondary does against a team with a real threat at WR, since Dwayne Bowe had to sit last week.

I'm excited to see the Titans get any recognition at all, as it seems we are often totally forgotten in the league (understandably so). This team could end up being a wild card in the playoffs or pushing the Colts for the division but I also think the Chiefs could be really bad this year. Either way, a great start for this team on the road.

The Titans didn't "completely shut him down." The Chiefs just didn't give him the ball.

Agreed. I'm not really sure what their game plan was. I do know that when the Titans got up 3 scores (and even a little before that), the Chiefs totally abandoned the run. Titans did tackle much better than they had all preseason and the safeties came up for run support with little to no vertical threat to beat them deep.

7 carries for 19yards (2.7ypc) and 4 catches for 15yards (3.8ypr) for a 3.09yards per touch is pretty much shutting down Jamaal Charles considering he averaged 5.0ypc and 9.9ypr for a 7.45yards per touch average in the entire 2013 season and is 1 of the best offensive players in the league.

They stopped giving him the ball because .......they were shutting him down

Chiefs had a lot of 3 and outs. They were 1/12 on 3rd down and only ran 56 plays. Titans shut the entire offense down.

Browns anyone?

I was amazed and impressed all in the same day. In the first half, i was amazed at how bad the Browns played, even when i thought i had seen it all from the Browns, they always seem to amaze me. Then something happened that i havent seen in my lifetime....halftime adjustments. In the second half, i was dam impressed with how great the Browns played. Being down 27-3 on the road against the Steelers. No Josh Gordon, no Jordan Cameron and no Ben Tate. Come on guys, thats impressive. To come back and tie the game with a first year head coach, 1st year starter at QB, 2 rookie RB's and 1 rookie WR on the road was.....dare i say impressive!

Titans.

I would have said the dolphins but they usually play well vs the Pats. The dolphins D was pretty awesome in the 2nd half though.

Didn't see the Titans game, but the Dolphins were very impressive. Watched that game last night. Run game looked very strong. Moreno is a maniac. Tannehill still can't throw a deep ball, but their short and medium passing was sharp. Defense looked good. Got consistent pressure with 4 guys. Cameron Wake is a stud.

Patriots need to figure out how to protect Tom Brady. And they need a deep threat. Those were the issues that jumped out to me for the Patriots.
