This is his chance to steal just a few eyeballs and bumped his ratings up by two or three points.

ETA Friday: Meanwhile NBA players are hanging out at NY fashion week

No shite.

He's also saying "note to self, stay out of it and let the courts handle it"

The NFL and the NBA are direct competitors? If anything, he should be thanking his lucky stars this isn't him. It easily could.be

And Adam Silver is a billion times smarter than Roger fricking Goodell. I don't think Silver is worried whatsoever.

Goodell's involvement in the PCP

Too hands on, and no matter what he was setting himself up for a situation like this

He put the responsibility of personal
Judgement on himself willingly to make a name, now his judgment is getting him crucified because it sucks so he's lying which makes it only worse

Adam silver:
Duke University
University of Chicago Law School

Roger Goodell:
Washington & Jefferson College (B.S. in Economics)

Who wins that intellectual battle...

Silver's already light years ahead of Goodell as a commissioner. Silver would've dropped the hammer on Rice hard in the first place.

It might just be me, but I'm still not following.

The court system isn't going to do shite to Rice. It's not like he's going easier on Rice than the courts. Isn't he in pre-trial diversion?

Not being confrontational, but are you arguing that Roger should have waited until the court proceedings played out before handing down punishment? If so, I agree. But how could Roger have banned him for a year (or given him any real punishment for that matter) after the courts essentially dismiss the charges?

Doesn't really mean anything. Not defending Roger's intelligence here, but listing schools doesn't sway me one way or the other.

So then that's the decision of the court

Roger dodger doesn't need to do anything

He made himself responsible for doing something

Tags watched ray Lewis beat more serious and appealing charges and didn't blink

I just can't imagine nothing being done by the NFL until after the court proceedings wrapped up, after the release of that video.

I thought the Sterling stuff was crazy but the overreaction to this story has been truly amazing.

Do people really think there is even one person who is going to not watch the NFL Sunday because of Ray Rice?

Hey guys, anybody want my Colts tickets? I was gonna go to the game but Ray Rice punched his fiancee so I just can't support football anymore.

Hey Ron, wanna go to Wild Wings and watch some football and drink some beer? No thanks Steve, after Ray Rice punched his girlfriend I'm just going to stay home scrub the floorboards.

Ray Rice F'd up hardcore

Roger Goodell did the same.

Rice has paid the price, we'll see if Goodell does the same. Can we just move on with our lives?

The NBA doesn't have a prayer to complete with the NFL in popularity.

With that said, he gained a ton of good will with the Isaiah Austin draft. Well done.

The NBA will eventually surpass the NFL imo. It seems like Goodell is going to fast track something that was going to take at least 15-20 more years probably though.
