Cotton

If a cotton, shouldn't he be changing colors to black?

My vote is cottonmouth. I've never seen one that light, but I did find a few pics on the web.

Wasn't a rattler. No rattles and had the cocky attitude of a cottonmouth

I say 2 foot. He was likely closer to 1.5

That rock is a good 6-7"

Did he live to see another day? That's the question.

my bet is juvi cotton. I was struck at by one the size of the one in the second picture while turkey hunting in South Carolina. I had always thought that they all got black as they got bigger. Turns out not so! That pattern is wicked camo in a wet environment. Word to the wise, don't assume that they are all going to be black/dark regardless of size.

Do not know, but length of time from last shed will have something to do with it.

That's a damn fine looking Cottonmouth, and one of the lightest color patterns I've ever seen. But he looks pretty well camouflaged. I don't know if that small area shown in the picture is characteristic of that area, but that bank has clear water, sandy bottom and is rocky, so it would make sense that a light color pattern would thrive in that area. In a more swampy, dark mud area, he wouldn't do as well. Just genetics and natural selection at work.
