Any band that is loosely based in NOLA counts (Tab Beniot, Sonny Landreth, etc..)

Sonny Landreth and Tab Benoit are not from NOLA. Acadiana and BR/Houma, respectively.

ETA: See you got it covered. Carry on...

Lots of non-NO stuff here. Landreth is associated more with Lafayette.

Zebra and Sonny at Tier 3?? Not a chance. Zebra is a 2 at minimum. They're not a 1 only because they didn't last very long.

Normals = Tier 2

Back Beats = Tier 3

the Cold = tier lol

and if we're including BR like we seem to be, what about the Shitdogs?

Isn't that Ellen deGeneres' brother's band?

Zebra was great, I agree. Their short career however has them stuck in upper Tier III.

"The Fat man...tier 1"

You could argue that Armstrong and Fats should be in Tier 1 by themselves.

How about Pete Fountain?

Yes. Zebra is the only New Orleans-based rock band that still gets regular plays on FM radio.

Great list, but I feel like you're giving short shrift to what was once a vibrant early rock and then R&B scene. My problem is that I don't know that stuff so well.

Definitely add Fats Domino and maybe Ernie K-Doe, too?
