Anybody else think that Payton is trying to "hide" Cooks a bit?

I think he debuts in a big way against Atlanta.

I haven't been paying attention. Is he just a receiver, or do we have plays designed to get him in space ala bush/harvin

While I do think he has a nice day, I don't think there was any intention on "hiding" him. They are having trouble with Stills' quad, and didn't want to rush Cooks back after his illness and him hurt himself.

I think he'll have a nice day because Atlanta has nobody to cover him. With Colston, Morgan, Meachem, Toon at WR, the RBs out of the back field, and Graham, Atlanta doesn't have the personnel to cover everyone. Few teams do. Someone will have a big day and I think its Cooks.

I really hope we consider using him in a few Harvin like plays.

They've thrown him a couple of WR screens in practice but I can't recall them doing it in the preseason games. I do not expect him to take any snaps out of the backfield. Maybe some reverses or WR screens, but he'll play all the WR positions.

people forget what a chain mover reggie was for us, something we've been missing and I'd like to have back

I hope we do see him with a few swing passes, and shorter routes. He could be a beast coming underneath linebackers who move back to tail graham on drive plays

I will never worry about the Saints utilization of an offensive player under Payton. It's a great feeling after some Saturday head scratchers, but I digress.

They tried one I believe in the first preseason game, but it was blown up. I expect we'll see at least one or two on Sunday.

I fully expect to see these on Sunday....maybe even a couple of times a half if given the opportunity.

If he is on the field, they have to account for him. He hasn't done much of anything but did catch a couple of short first downs on comebacks and outs during the preseason. Those will get you down the field and open up the inside for Graham, Cooks, and RBs.

I know you dislike him, but with Stills probably being out, he'll see some time. You may as well get used to it and start rooting for the guy. It does them no good if he sucks.

receivers no, running backs yes.

bush's role was never expanded, and when ingram had the hot hand last year he'd roll out the trash. He also tipped his hand with formations with his shitty use of the RBs last year...a problem he has openly said was a point of emphasis for him this year, thus my high MI fantasy hopes

dude is hands down the best playcaller, the best offensive mind, but he's had some busts to go with his many booms with the way he uses players. His late situational playcalling cost us the panthers and pats game. Two games, where we needed one first down, and all of a sudden he's running obvious plays that the defense is sniffing out. do love me some sean payton though.

I think the story from this game will be our defense

I don't know what to expect from our offense. The last two years we've been slow starters on offense and had a hard time keeping consistent. The numbers are still there but it's not the same O from 06-11. I'm hoping we just needed a guy like cooks to move chains with short completions and stretch the field...and take pressure off our other receivers

I think the offense comes out humming. I liked what I saw from them against the Colts. They looked very sharp.

Plus, I forget who it was, but a NFL reporter was asked who looked the sharpest in all the camps he visited, and he said the Saints.

IDK. Saints/Falcons often has a way of ending up 20-14, 23-17, 17-13, 28-24....scores like that. The 45-16 and 34-20 games are few
