Looking at the first half again, things weren't so bad as they appeared in the first game of the season.

Wisconsin got every break in the first half. The first scoring drive had a couple missed holding calls (they were marginal, but could've been called), the field goal came after a minimal drive from good field position, and the last touchdown came off of a turnover deep in LSU territory.

Contra that, LSU's first drive ended on a blatant PI no-call against Dural, squandered great field position on a bad read-option play that would've gotten them at least into field goal position. Add in another missed PI call against Dural on a long ball (the announcer's "incidental contact" comment here was priceless), and LSU could've gone into the halftime with a lead.

All things considered, the breaks went Wisky's way and they were able to get up 10. I was surprised at how close LSU was to being in a lead going into halftime while watching a replay of the game.

Also, passing downfield on first down was money in this game.

First quarter we didn't look that bad at all. Just a couple of miscues that really hurt our early drives.

Second quarter was pretty brutal.

A couple of calls go the other way and we win the 2nd quarter.

The second missed PI on Dural came right before the Dickson fumble. Before that the defense hand clamped down pretty good.

Run D left much to be desired. O Line play left much to be desired.

In the first quarter, for sure.

The Wisc D was selling out against the run and we missed two first down throws that, in retrospect, should've been completions (long throw to Dural and the drop from Desean Smith). Gotta keep them honest.

Pretty sure Debo gave Gordon his hip flexor trouble on theat cutback around the 1:50 mark. Jones smoked him on that tackle. Love watching that kid play.

There were holes a truck could've been driven through. Holding was not the reason. We should've stacked the box from the get go. Doesn't matter. The best team won the game.

Pretty pathetic when you have to use the "uncalled penalties" excuse to explain why we were dominated in the first half.

Just man up and admit we were outplayed and out-schemed in the first half.

I'm watching it for the 3rd time. It's just as ugly as it was Saturday night.

Our run D struggled because we were playing the 2nd best back in the country......... Our offense struggled because we were way too conservative. We had the same gameplan we had against Iowa only difference was Iowa wasn't 100% locked in on the run game. I think a lot of Jennings struggles--if you call it that--can be attributed to our playbook being either go routes or 5 yard slants and button hooks.

If you don't want to respond the particulars, that's your deal. But calling out someone's manhood because they disagree with you is ridiculous.

Wisky got the breaks in the first half. LSU's D played better 2nd quarter onward, IMO, and that kept them in the game. But LSU just hit the play in the 2nd half that they missed in the 1st half. Had they played a complete game this one would've been completely different.

Obviously if Gordon plays 60 minutes of football it would've been different as well. But if you watched the first half and though Dural wasn't interfered with in the two plays I sited then we can agree to disagree. And if you didn't see 49 holding throughout the 1st quarter, particularly on the drive with the long jet sweep touchdown, then I'd suggest you watch it again.

Completetly agree.

Holding was not the reason.

The holding calls I was talking about didn't excuse the poor positioning on the plays in question, but they turned 10 yard runs into 20 and 40+ yard runs.
